Default 2006 Memphis EAC Coverage

Chris Mc Nair, official FG roving reporter, gives us the scoop on last weekend's throwdown in Memphis!

EAC this year was nothing short of incredible! There was more talent in the Memphis Pyramid than I have seen in all 6 of the events we have attended. Some of our own Flying Giants members were in the house, showing what RC flying is all about! It was awesome to see the big names such as Mark Leseberg Jr., Jason Shulman, Chip Hyde, Josh Glavin, Mark Trent, Blaine Austin, and many more young talented guys. We had the pleasure of seeing Ryan Archer, a 12 year old prodigy trained by Chip Hyde tear up the skies on his Sypher biplane. Ryan has been flying for 6 months and placed 7th at this year’s EAC competition! Watch out for this kid. Jason Shulman flew a Airhogs Aero Ace in his first round of the competition. He actually completed his 2 min…….. Fun sight to see. After hours as always was a blast! The Hooters girls graced us with their presence both Friday night and Saturday afternoon! RC Cheerleaders!!!!!!!

Final results were as follows:
1st - Mark Leseberg Jr. - Team JR
2nd - Josh Glavin - Team Hitec
3rd - Devin McGrath - Team FMA
4th - Jeremy Chinn - Team Hell
5th - Jeff Pfeifer - Team FMA/Team RC Groups
6th - Chip Hyde
7th - Jason Danhakl
8th - Ryan Archer - way to go Ryan!

This year’s EAC is what we would call a Pilots event. You could count the midairs on one hand! The flight time was incredible, just about every time you wanted to fly you could. The Memphis Pyramid is essentially a professional basketball arena with 160 ft. ceiling heights! So there were no airspace issues!!!

Getting to spend time with some of these guys is a real treat, I would highly recommend trying to make every event you can -- you will not be disappointed.

Congratulations to all the winners! Thanks again for the great time!!

Chris Mc Nair

Ahh thats what I get.......Nobody said I was smart We had a great time, as for the Lipo in pants. Brandon Chitty Was walking around with a Tanic 3 cell 300mah lipo in his back pocket. he went to sit down and something bad happened to the Lipo. Next thing you see Brandon is engulfed in smoke, billowing from his ass It burned his wallet and his pants, but he came out alright. It was scary but at the same time funny as hell. Sorry for the mistake guys Ill pay more attention next time. Later Chris Mc Nair
