Somebody from California has a purple 4.5" Tru-Turn spinner on here for $75.00 plus 10 bucks shipping. He stated that he won it at a club raffle. I checked the price at Tru-Turn's website and it's $139.00. My only beef with this guy is that I DON"T have the bucks right now to get it!! It's really a great deal and I need one!!
I kinda see your point. He might be in the same boat as some of us money-challenged folks..... He might just need something to finish equipping a new bird that only costs $75 dollars and he's giving us a shot at a great deal. I hope I can get it and I hope he gets his 75 dollar what-ever he needs to finish his plane!
Let's fly.

Most times I have won something that I had no need for, I GAVE the item away to someone that could use it. That is my choice. If someone else wants to make top dollar for an item they won, that is their right.

Not really an issue for me. If I think it's a good deal on something I want, I'll buy it. If not, then I won't. My choice. If no one wants it at that price then the seller either lowers the price or keeps the item. It's basic economics.

I dont see what the big deal is...I would rather the person be honest about where they got it from than create some B.S. excuse to sell it. Even if it is only 10% less than retail...if you were going to buy it...why not save 10%...

The only time it would bother me is if they described it incorrectly and then had no box no instructions, etc. etc. because that could mean sticky fingers.

Yeah, pretty much that, but I can see both sides. We've raffled piles of stuff here at FG, and it's ultimately the recipients choice what they do with the product. Many times someone at a contest may win a 40% airframe, or a spinner, that is incompatible with their level in the hobby. I've been irked in the past too, but when you take into consideration that it might cost someone 5 grand to put a plane behind that raffled spinner, it puts stuff into perspective.

Hey guys: As you can see I edited this thread. I knew as I typed it yesterday that it would rile some and get agreement from others. But yesterday wasn't a very good day for my world(Long Story). Hence why I edited it somewhat. I just want EVERYONE to know I was making a general statement and not singling out any listing. It just so happened that the listing for the spinner caught my eye yesterday with the, I won this wording and it triggered my rant,Lol. After viewing True-Turns web site and seeing for myself what that item sells for I see that the asking price is a good deal for whomever needs it. I guess I would just not say I won this on the ad and let a potential buyer know when they inquire that, Hey I won this in a raffle and I don't need it so i figured I'd sell it for a bargain price. Thanks guys, Newton

Yeh, what if you win a car but you've already got a car and have tons of debt. Then is it OK to sell the car you got for free? That's like people looking at tax records on a house and getting angry that the value has gone up a bunch and the person selling it stands to profit. The selling price (market value) for something has nothing to do with how much you paid for it.

I look at it this way: things are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. It doesn't matter what it previously bought and sold it for, how much it costs to produce, what you have invested in it, etc. Have I bought/found/been given some POC for nothing and turned around and sold it on Ebay for crazy money? You bet I have!

It's the world we live in.
