My only thing with that is he had a dang football field size ramp to land on,,, not much skill just go fast and control the gas or brake in the air to control the tilt of the bike,,, you know what I mean,

Great Post!
Saw Evel in person (jumped a mere 10 semi's) but watched him go into the snake river when I was 10 on "Wide World of Sports." Every time I go to Vegas I try to menatally reconstruct the scene for Evel's jump at Cesears Palace.
Thanks again!

Yeah,...I remember Snake River Canyon!! I also remember my whole family watching the TV in dismay when he didn't make. I was totally devistated. My brother and I were huge fans of him. I just wish that I still had the hand crank stunt bike that we got for Christmas one year! Left alot of rubber burnout marks on my mom's kitchen floor with that toy. (We lived in Northern Ohio where a foot or two of snow was normal. Only place to play with that thing was indoors!)

I bet a months salary that Australia has a much better medical program than tha U.S. Heck, even with insurance here, you are not guaranteed treatment he he. Yep, his b@@ls are pure gold, to only have a throttle and two brakes to adjust your attitude during that much (and high) airtime is couragous.

give the guy some credit, its not as easy as it looks. i race mx and it takes BIG brass ones and alot of nerve to hit a jump that long and high. we see this sort of thing all the time on tv (X games, supercross) and now think nothing of how long guys can jump. theres more to it than stabbing the foot brake and cracking the throttle.
