Default Need advice making changes.

I have a Wild Hare Sukhoi that I'm looking to lighten up some to make it possibly more 3D capable. Basically I'm broke and have to put money in to get it running as is. I don't really want to buy a whole bunch of new stuff to get this working but a new reciever pack is definately a priority as one of my two has shorted out.
My setup is:
3MM TOC 53
Vess 23B
5945's on Elevator and Ailerons
945 on Rudder
3 Fromeco 2600's for ignition and reciver
Smart Fly Super Reg.
I'm looking to get the plane down to about 16lbs. I'm estimating the current weight to be around 17.5-18lbs.

Go with 1 battery for the plane, 1 for ignition. If you use A 123's, no need for regulator. Get a 5955 or 7955 for the rudder if you can.

If you have a 24oz. fuel tank, you can drop back to a 16oz. tank and save around 6.5oz. on your RTF weight. Most report using around 1 to 1 1/2oz. per minute for normal flying.

I think I only have a 20oz tank. And should I go with a 4cell A123 with a high mah or should I just keep the 2 cell.

16 oz tank for sure. Carbon fiber wing tube, main gear. Fiberglass or CF spinner. If you are running a cannister muffler, it will be heaver than a pitts style.

If you have limited funds, you can still find these items used, here on FG or RCU, for a good price. Just post a want ad.

These planes are tough to get sub-18 lbs.

If you are going to use A123 batteries, just use the 2-cell 2300 mAh. These batteries can be completely recharged from a dead state in a matter of 15-30 minutes, and have no problems if you top them off after every 2-3 flights (top-off takes 5 minutes max on my planes).

I just remembered something else: Ditch the wheelpants, if you haven't done so yet. They are heavier than you think.

Well I've gotten a good start last night. I've stripped it down from the inside. I'll have a new battery today and should get the throttle and choke servos mounted or at least get the brackets finished. I'll get some pics uploaded tonight.

Nix the choke servo if you are going for light! That another couple oz's saved.

I'm going to keep the choke servo. I've just seen bad things when a throttle servo gives out and stuff like that. I'll be working on my plane pretty soon and should have almost everything wrapped up here pretty soon. I'd say within the next day or two. And I'll try to get some pics.

Next hoop to jump through, I was running two stitches for my reciever. Since I'm just running one battery now is it possible for me to solder them together so that they will both work. I just don't want a switch going bad on my or anything which is why I went to two. But if I can't I'll try and pull it out and repair just need some input.

Maybe a simple "Y" harness to connect the two switches together?
