Default BALANCE JR 12X

Quick question, This is my set up:
42% 260
1 servo per elev. half
2 servos on rudder
2 servos per ail. half
using the 4-Ail as a wing set up in the 12X

I can get the balance function to work on the elev. and the rudder servos but nothing on the ailerons. On my balance screen there is Aileron and Aileron2, no movement on the slave servos at all...any help...what did I forget???

Thanks for the help

The manual and application guide do a very poor job of explaining how this is supposed to be executed.

I am very much looking forward to a response and some details as to what the heck the entries on the screen mean.

I know you have to have selected the four aileron wing type first. but then what?

Make sure the device select is disabled for all channels using wing servos.

To understand the balance function look at it this way...
Rudder:
You have the right rudder servo plugged into the Rudd channel. End points and travel are controlled as normal with ATV and Subtrim.
The second rudder servo is matched to the first servo via the balance function. You get 7 points along the travel to adjust and match the first rudders travel. It works great.

There is a small issue with Balance on the 4 ail servo set up.
If you plug all the servos into the channels stated in the menu you will not have adjustment on each wing. You will have adjustment on both right wing servos instead of one on the left panel and one on the right.
You can get around it by plugging servos into the channels needed to make it work but,the labelling will be wrong in your menus related to wing servos.
I have heard that the rudd to ail mixing will work if done like this and I have also heard it wont. Not sure which is right. I didnt try it. I used Matchboxes instead for the wings.
I am tolkd a software change will be coming. The new radios may have it already. I am not sure. Mine was a first shipment one.

After a few well placed #$%@^ I think I may have figured it out. The labeling for the 4 Aileron wing is not good at all, after switching some connections around I think I've gotten it to work. If you hook everything up like the manual says you will get two servos balancing on one side and nothing on the other. I'll let you know how it go's

This is the first I've heard of an issue with the 4 aileron balance function and have no experience with trying to set it up as the model I'm using it on has Matchboxes for the aileron servos.

IIRC, Troy Newman set this stuff up as an experiment for some guys who asked about it, has anyone touched bases with either him or someone knowledgeable about it at Horizon?

I'm using the Rudder/Aileron mix with no problems, but I've not put the elevators in that mix as I tend to turn off the elevator mix on certain maneuvers so it's on a separate p-mix and everything there works fine.

If there is an issue, I'm gonna have to apologize to a guy who posted a question about a rumor going around to the effect that there's an issue with the 4 aileron servo mix....

Wow what a pain in the #@%.. If you use the balance function for your ailerons you'll need to first pick the 4 aileron on the wing type in the advance function. ( turn TX off hold the menu button and turn the TX on ) select wing function ) Plug ailerons into Aileron on one channel with a slave channel of your choice, and the other wing half on Aux 2 with the other slave channel. This is according to JR. Set all your end points using Aile & aux 2 on both wing halves (respectivley) to the slave channels. Doing this you'll have one balancing servo on each wing half. Good luck. make sure your centered and at zero on all your sub trims.

Wayne,

The rudder/ail mixing does work when you do what you mentioned to get the balance feature right. I did this on the bench then mixed rudder/ail all servos moved in either direction.

The way I finally got everything to work was use Aileron CH2 and Gear CH5 for one wing and then AUX 2 (ch 7) and AUX3 (Ch8) for the other wing. Trims work, everything moves in the right direction, have not tryed any mixing yet.
