Well now that I got the introductions over with I have a couple of questions. I am building a 33% Extra 330S and was thinking of putting in the new Evolution 80CC engine. What do you guys think? I seen their 26 CC performing on Internet and I was some impressed. Does a twin cylinder run smoother than a single cylinder or are both about the same? Do you guys rubber mount your gas engines or is it not necessary? Can you buy larger model kits anymore or is it all ARF? I would like to build a Yak 54 probably about 33% but I have no idea where I could buy that kit. A 33% Sukhoi would also be nice. I like to build but it looks like not much for builders anymore. In case you're wondering I just started up the hobby again after a long absence. |

Yes twins are smoother. No rubber mounts. Carden and Dalton (google them) both put out nice kits large size but they only kit whats the latest fad. Yaks are in right now. Not sure about Sukhois. I'm sure they are one or two more but with the ARF pricing it's not like it used to be with a dozen kit companies with good stuff.

Well some people hard mount the engines but I dont. I make soft mounts (well not too soft) and have been doing it for almost 20 years I guess you have to have right combination. My mounts will NOT eliminate vibration, but reduce it. Any time you can reduce vibration the airframe will kiss you for it :-) Also they are some single cyl. engines that will run as smooth that the twins. Zee |
