UHHH I would stick to a DA 50 or G 62 I think the 85 might be a little porky for the P-51.....but it would have stupid power.

Can you say wing loading, I wouldn't do it the 85 has way way to much power for that plane, a DA-50 or G62 is an excellent choice like Greyhoundman said.

A DA 50 overflows out of the cowl by a decent margin. Plus it will go about 130mph with a 20x12 APC. This is pushing that airframe. A 85 is not needed to overpower this aircraft. A 50 is plenty and a blast to fly.

A guy at my field has one with a ZDZ50 and it is perfect for it. You dont even see the engine. He is also using that exhaust system that looks like scale P51 exhaust pipes. Looks and sounds great.

Yellowman,
We have a glassed and painted ARC version of it and the gear plates ain't exactly something to write home to mama about. We've got a G-62 with a custom Kaleo muffler on it. It's about a 100 mph bird that has this wonderful "Merlin-like" sound when it flies. We have a Mezlic 22-10 on it and are bumping 78-7900 rpms. It has Robarts and a full cockpit with a full-length pilot. My son has a 65 inch TF with a Saito 100 in it. Robarts, retract tail wheel, flaps, servo driven sliding canopy......
It is painted in a "Cripes-A-Mighty paint scheme.
As far as the DA-85......... Ground clearance might be a problem. Book your reservation for the insane asylum and go for it!! LOL! (Guarantee ya it will bust up into convenient, easy to carry home in a bag, small pieces!)

I had one with a G-62 in it and had to hang 4 ounces on the tail to balance... You'd probably have to tie a brick to the tail with an 85.
