Default FAAST Receivers Not Alone in Need For Cooling

I was looking into A123 batteries on the ElectroDynamics website and came across something interesting. In the "Care and Feeding of A123 Batteries" FAQ it states the maximum allowable surface temperature for the batteries is 160 degrees Farenheit! Looks like that temperature causes problems in more than just FAAST receivers. If nothing else it serves as a wake up call that cooling needs to be taken seriously.

With all the attention being paid to FAAST receivers I'm wondering whether cooling might be an issue with guys running A123 battery packs? Could it be that high draw servos like 8711's combined with overheating A123 packs might be contributing factors to some of the blame being put on FAAST receivers alone? I don't run A123's so I honestly have no idea how hot they get when loaded down with a dozen 8711's but I'd sure like to know before I set somthing like that up.

In the latest Model Airplane News John Glazellis shows one of his setups with an air scoop on the fuselage connected to a duct that blows directly onto his 14 channel FAAST receiver. Seems like a dirt simple, cheap and effective way to keep it cool. Probably not a bad idea for A123 batteries either.

My apologies. Somehow I started this thread twice and I don't know how to delete the whole thing.
