I just mounted a brand new OS 2.00 on my freshly rebuilt Funtana 90. AUW is 11.3 lbs. I calculate the wing loading around 23oz. The original engine was an OS 1.20 with a 16x6 APC prop. This combo flew well but didn't have the juice to hang on the prop with any pullout at all. I'm still in the process of breaking the 2.00 in. It spins an APC 18x8w at about 7600 rpms and the plane feels like a pig. If there's any fo you guys with any experience with this engine, I'd like to know what props have you tried? What rpm's they were turning at, and how they felt in the air. OS recommends a 20x8 or 18x10 as starting points. The idle and transition on the ground are great, but I expected better thrust in the air. If you have Saito 1.80/Funtana data I would think that would be comparable also. Weird that you didn't have pullout with the 1.20. My friend has two F90s both with the old OS 1.08 and they both fly pretty well and pullout rather slow but sure.

Welcome to the Giants! What altitude do you fly at?

I have this motor and I feel the same! What a pig! The best prop so far that I have used is a 17x8 APC. I do have have a 18x6w coming and a 18x10. I cannot get this thing to pull...

I'm still trying to find out what props are getting good rpm's and thrust. No-one is giving any data on actual output. I've been using an 18x8W APC and a 17x8 APC trying to get the rpm's up, but I can't get over 7800 without dropping to a 16" prop. With a 16X6 APC I 'm getting 8600 on the bench, but in the air I can barely get it above the stall speed at WOT. 6 pitch props are not friendly on this engine at all. The really odd thing is that I was using a 16x6 APC when I had my OS 1.20 surpass on it and it flew pretty good. The last prop I tried was a 17x10N APC. It tached 7700, flew a bit faster than the 8 pitch and pulled about the same for hovering. I have an 11lb. plane that hovers at 3/4+ throttle (actual rpms not stick position) and it's starting to piss me off. Hangar 9 recommends a Saito 1.00 which weighs a whole 8 oz. less than my 2.00, and they claim 8lb. AUW that I only believe if they fill it with helium before putting it on the scale. I don't think I could get to 8lbs. without any servos or battery.

What fuel are you using? That might be the problem.

So you wanted to hover and threw on a bigger engine. Whats next a DA 50? That plane flys very well with a Saito 1.25 or YS 110. Two of the highest poower to weight ratio engines for the plane. Just because you throw on a big engine dosnt mean that you will get more power. Mine flys great at 8lbs (or as great as a Funtana can fly). At 11 lbs that plane must fly horrible.
