| H9 Ulitmate Owners - I need your assistance! When I assemble the upper wing with the carbon center rib (wing completely off the plane) I have no gap near the carbon center rib. When I mount the upper wing to the plane (center cabane and the interplane struts), I get a sizable gap near the center rib. Does anyone know what is causing this? Do I worry or just fill it in with velcro for cushioning? |

Are the locating pins getting caught up on the Carbon rib. Can you slide each wing against the carbon rod with out the other side on? If so can you slide the two wings together on the tube. Could be the tube is a little bit to long. Adding someting to the center rib like velcro will reduce the amount of noise the airplane makes though. Chris |

A Friend Of Mine Owns One And Has The Same Problem. Its Really Not A Problem The Velcro Will Close The Gap And Stop The Vibrations Doesnt Affect The Planes Performance At All, Without The Velcro You Will Get A Little Resonation (vibration Noise) But Nothing To Worry About. Hope This Helps

this looks like your struts on the wings are slightly off - you can check the lockating brackets to see if they are in the right position and properly tight - i always have a small gap - about 2mm but i always put a lttle duckt tape over to hold it inplace - but mostly just for peace of mind - never had a problem with a small!!!!!!! gap. check out those pins that hold the strutts in place!!

I checked the Aluminum interplane strut mounts. They only adjust up and down and twist left/right. There is no way to adjust them forward/back. I supect that when the top wing is inserted into the interplane struts, the struts, pull the wings back a bit - causing this gap. The reason I say this is that the gap is only near the leading edge. There is no gap near the trailing edge.

A flying buddy of mine also had this problem. He had a small gap, you would hear some vibration from it at idle, he flew it that way, never had a problem. Neo Out!!! |

Bob....torque roll tony has a slight gap between his root ribs too. Doesn't seem to effect his flying. He's in Florida now; call him on his cell to discuss it. J |

I spoke to Bons today. I want to know if anyone has a definitive fix for this. I also have a question in with Mike McConville. Thanks- BDSBob |

I'll try to get you a picture of what I did. I had the gap problem and vibration too. I basically copied another guy at our field. He devised a way to essentially synch the top wing halves together. One wing holds the 4-40 screw (one forward, one aft) and the other has a blind nut setup. The screws go from inside the inner rib, through the CF rib and screw into the blind nut inside the other wing half rib. Tightening the screws is facilitated through slots cut in the underside of the wing to allow a ball driver to get on the head of the cap screw. It eliminates the gap and makes a solid top wing. Solved all the problems. Just what you need....TWO MORE FREAKIN SCREWS ADDED TO THE REST!!!! Bipes are a labor of love, aint they? |
