Default servo's on the 102"

Hi,

Just wondering, to save weight and more complicated setup.
Is it possible to use the ACT XT07TG servo's in the wings?
These are 420 oz. 0.12 sec and Titanium gear. 67grams
this way I don't need matchboxes.
If possible, in which of the two slots should they then be mounted?

regards

Hi 3drules,

How much of weight saving are we talking about, 67 grams total? The problem that I see is the geometry of your servo mounting. If you were to use one servo, I would rather have the servo in between the two available slots. I know Andrew Jesky used one servo on each wing for his Electric QQ-Yak 102" but honestly didn't look at his set up to see where he mounted the servo. I would like the 2 servo set up and match boxes for the wings. Should you decide to use one high torque servo for the rudder I have no problem with. I will talk to Quique if you really want to go by one servo set up for the wings to see what would be the best solution. I won't be able to talk to him until Tuesday, please PM me if you are really looking for one servo set up. I will also email Andrew to find out how he did his. Like I said I rather a different Geometry for one servo set up.

Thank you for your questio,.
Reza

It won't work. The ailerons on the 102" Yak are WAY too flexible and will likely flutter at the tips. Go with dual 5945's and a Y-harness. You don't need a matchbox. I don't have any matchboxes on my 102" Yak and have ZERO problems. You just have to set up the geometry correctly, which you should do anyway.

Hi Reza,

Thanks 4 the quick answer. It is not a requirement for me, just wondering if it would be beneficial. I can see that if you use just 1 mounting hole the forces on the aileron would be uneven.
For me the reason to explore this is that I am unfamiliar with matchboxes. This Yak will be my first petrol based plane. I had some money back from the IRS.

another question, since I am based in Europe, The Netherlands, what would be the quickest buying option (I am going on holiday in 5.5 weeks and want to take the plane in flying condition with me). Direct from QQ would that be the quickest way?
or is there a good shop in the neighbourhood of the Netherlands (I can drive to Germany) There are some shops in Austia but that is too far away for me.

Like I said, you don't need a matchbox, just set up the geometry correctly and run a Y harness.

Hi Greetz,

Please PM your address and I will check with Quique and Wayne for shipping estimate and time. I know we have reps in Australia but not sure about Germany! Meanwhile try your option from Australia to see if it would worth it, cost and time wise to get it from our Australian dealer. Most likely I won't have any answer for you until Tuesday. We are seeing a a holiday

Working with matchboxes is really easy. Both Quique and I rather have match boxes. One you got them, I can help you set it up.

Thank you,
Reza

5945's on the wings, 5955's on the elevators, one 5955 on the rudder, and dual Fromeco 2400's for Rx power.

Hey Reza, on the linkage connecting the two rudder arms I noticed my bolt only goes through the carbon fiber and into the aluminium swb arm with none sticking out for the lock nut.. Do most folks just lock tight the bolt into the swb arm? I have no bolt sticking through underneath to put the lock nut on. I tightens up pretty good and doesn't seem like it will come out.

I think the SWB is tapped for 4-40 screws. If that's the case, get longer 4-40 screws and put the nut on for assurance. I don't want that screw to vibrate loose or strips the thread.
