Help! LiPo Balancers

So, I'm looking into getting a bigger electric plane that would require a 2100 maH LiPo pack. What do LiPo balancers do and how do I use one or what do I use to charge a battery of that size?

I dont have one but my friend does. You really dont need one. It pretty much fixes bad cells and refreshes your pack. You will notice when you need to balance it. When you notice that it doesnt hold a charge for as long as it should, then it needs to be balanced. I use lipos almost everyday on my foamies and on my 45" electric extra, and i dont need to balance them. I had a 2 year old lipo and thats the only lipo i had to balance. So in my opinion i wouldnt waste my money on it untill you think you need it. Thats my oponion......

I use one as a matter of extra safety. If anything goes wrong to that cell then the charge is stopped.

I dont charge without it. Also if you have a balancer then you dont need to spend mega bucks on a all singing and dancing charger. Set the volts, set the current and wack the juice in

I have a Thunderpower LiPo charger that is really nice and I just want to practice extreme safety with these LiPo packs. I'll call Thunderpower when I have some time and talk to them about it.

another option is the one i sell, if you wish to purchase outside the states.

which works out about $25 + shipping.

Balances up to 4 cells. Fitted with pq type connectors but i do carry the connectors to fit other lipos.

Wish lipo makers would standardise on connectors

Well, a good lipo pack that isn't being abused wont go out of balance so easily. It is good to have one as it will help prolong the usable life of your battery, but I have gotten by so far without one, till 2 days ago. You will need to check that the balance connectors match the ones that come with your batteries. I am currently using the hyperion one.

hyperion, ployquest use the same connector.

Thunder Power, use their own.

Then there's these which is the normal out of china. examples include himodel, dualsky, align, etc.

I would say also a balancer also acts a supervisor, making sure that the cells are looked after.

We have all read the the stories and seen the vids about lipos. They still scare the crap out of me and i will never relax around them while charging.
