Biff's dad scratch built an early Hucker for us around 1989. We put his K&B .61 in it and it did things we had never imagined. The Ailerons were too small for what we do now, but it had plenty of elevator and motor. We flew it for 1 season without landing gear too! It finally got a .91 Surpass and L/G in 1990 or so and was even flown off of the snow with a pair of skis I fabbed up. I sure wish I had pictures of it! It was Black and Gold with the "Batman" emblems on each wing. I am sure he still has the plans for it and it would be great to fly one again. Sure is fun remembering. |

I have only been in the hobby for a few short years but I always think it is amazing to see how far it has come in the past 10+ years.

| I've Gone Yak! Will I go BACK? ![]() | It has been about 10 years for me. I remember I solo on a plane called a butterfly and then got the first Avistar ARF that came out. A fun airplane back then was a Kaos 60. They no longer have these out. They do a 40 size but not 60. We have two kind of 60 sizes. Another airplane that we still have that was built a while back was a Big Bee which is a 8 foot long trainer like plane that does some aerobatics. It hovered great the last time I flew it. Has a BT60 in it. Here are just a few older airplanes we still have. Kaos 60 (2) Big Bee Giant Stinger kit Aeromax Falcon 40 Tiger 60 Kit Stinger 60 Kit

AHHH Nostalgia..... I started flying 27 years ago, had an old cirrus radio on channel red and white, first power ship was a goldberg ranger, and first airplane ever @ 8 years old was a hobby shack spirit of 76 sailplane (the flying ice chest). Dad and I had a great time. since then I have had about 100 airplanes, much of which were sailplanes... Kevin, I remember when the butterfly was just plans in RCM..... Crazy how things change.... |

Hey T. I am flying a giant Pitts and a Giant Su-Do-Khoi right now. I have my autogyro rotorhead but I was teaching a friend of mine how to fly, and he did an Anteater with by Telemaster. What's happening in Sandston? |

I started in the hobby in 1977 at 19 with a high-wing trainer, no ARFs then. We spent weeks toiling to get a plane ready to fly. Flying 3D was not even a dream, and the badass stunts were childs play by today's standards. After that bird went in nose first at Mach 1 into asfault, I flew a loaner Ugly Stick and built a low wing sport plane with retracts. My first radio was a Futaba simple 4 channel, cost $700 as I recall! Futaba and Craft were the big names then. I dropped out of the hobby when I got married and life became a blur with college and kids. Jumped back in it almost two years ago now... what a change! I am blown away at the advances, and my son and I are totally addicted.
