Default Brison 2.6 prop question

Hi Guys,
I just finished building an 87 1/4", 11 lb 9oz plane from Reids Quality Model Products called a "Nightmare" (let's hope it's not! )

Anyway, I got a new (10 year old) Brison 2.6 off of Ebay for it and am running it through a KS cannister muffler/header.

I'm trying to decide what props to try on it.

I've got a Pica 1/5 T28 with a Brison 2.4 on it. Due to ground clearance issues I've been forced into running a 17 x 10 APC on it, and it's not enough prop. I ordered and received a 17 x 10 Bella 3-blade for it that was supposed to be black with red tips but ended up being white with red tips... argggh

Getting back to the 2.6 .... I've got a 20 x 10 APC on the 2.6 right now for break in, which will happen this coming weekend.

Anyone have any experience with this engine, with regard to props... rumor is that this is a powerhouse of an engine for the displacement.

Any help would be most appreciated!

...Rob

Well, first off I'd say stay away from the APC's for gassers. For some reason, and I don't claim to know why, they don't perform too well. How about a Mejzlik 18x10 3 Blade? Should work better for ya. You can get them at www.desertaircraft.com

anything that will run about 7000--close enough
try a 20/8--20/10/--21x8
if the KS canister is correct size and you have enough header on it - it should be a good runner . If header is not setup right - expect flat spots on transition- and or overheating when leaned out etc..
typically you will need to let em rev to fix a balky midrange --or change the header/can setup - these things are a mixed blessing .

I think he needs a 3 blades for ground clearance though.

Thanks for the tips all. Magoo, do you run the Bolly wood, or Bolly carbon fiber? The APC's are pretty heavy when you get up into the 20" range and I'm sure that has a negative effect on transition.
Dick, I've got about 7" of total header before it dumps into the KS cannister. The 2.6 is inverted and the header wraps down between the landing gear which is where the cannister is mounted. I had to go this route because the cowl on the 'Nightmare' is so narrow that if I went with a Pitts style muffler I would have had to cut the entire side of the cowl away. Sounds like you've got some good experience with the KS product.
JeeUm, I'd love to try the Mejzlik 18x10 3 Blade but already have the Tru Turn spinner for the 2-blade. Ground clearance isn't a problem on this plane, the way it is on my T28.... I really need to get a 17x10 Mejzlik 3 Blade for the T28 with the 2.4 on it.

I'll use the 20x10 APC I have now for break-in, and I'll order a Bolly, or similar, for testing.

Thanks again guys!
...Rob
