Hey guys, Im looking at purchasing a Mac Powerbook Pro, BUT im curious to know whether any of our RC sims will run on a Mac... Apple has been advertising that their machines will now run third party software that allows the use of Windows XP so that you can run any WIN software at any time... Just curious if anybody on here has any experience with this. Thanks! http://www.apple.com/getamac/windows.html -Matt |

Using Boot Camp, you can dual boot into Windows or OSX. Running virtualisation, you can switch between either operating system on the fly, with no reboot. However, performance takes a big hit with virtualisation, it's not the thing to use for power-hungry apps like a flight sim. Booting into Windows is the right thing to do. However, all Macs, with the exception of the Mac Pro, come exclusively with the Intel ProGraphics integrated video adapter. It's good enough to make all sorts of shiny, stretchy, eye candy in OSX, but will fall on its face in a flight sim. If you really want a Mac, go for it, they're pretty nice. But don't expect it to be able to do much gaming-wise. And expect to drop at least seven hundred bucks if the logic board dies out of warranty (that's why I like PC's). I ran Reflex XTR on my Intel based iMac under XP in Boot Camp, and it ran it very well. It ran at full speed with every option turned on at 1440x900 resolution, so it definitely doesn't fall flat on its face, and that's with the Intel integrated graphics. Of course, mine is the lowest end one you can get, if you buy any of the ones above mine, they have Radeon and GeForce graphics chips, so the statement above isn't really accurate.
