As far as I know, you can fly in an open field, without a hassle from the police, as long as others are not put directly in harms way, and that noise is not an issue. But, MAAC insurance will not cover you unless you're at a sanctioned field. So if you do damage something or someone, the cash is coming out of your pocket after you get sued. As far as a .40 size in a school playground, I would say NO. Too much potential for damage or injury. If you need to fly in a playground, go electric. My favorite playground flyer is the Fliton Extra 330 Mini, awsome little plane. Check it out at www.fliton.com |

Since your in canada. i dont know if you have AMA or not. but here in the U.S. if your flying at a open field and something happens to where you loose your plane and hit something like a house or person's i think they will not cover you.

I don't know about where you guys are, but here in Florida, just stepping on a schools property without specific reason (i.e. picking up YOUR child) is a quick way to find yourself talking to a cop and probably getting arrested. Schools are pretty much entirely off limits for anything - they are completely fenced in and entering is considered criminal trespassing. All these nut jobs, pedophiles and gangs that prey on children have taken once safe and open to the public property and turned them into day prisons for children. It's really sad. I stick to AMA fields or private property where I have permission to be there. - Wayne |

you could probably find a pic on google earth. Anyways, here I, and a few other guys fly off of a school parking lot and land on the practice football field. (edmond, oklahoma) Here public schools are just that, public. This school is next to a huge park and there is tons of property that is open and you don't have to worry about hitting anyone or anything. I have even meet other guys at this same park because it has more room that most of the local sanction feilds. You just kind of have to feel out the situation for yourself because obviously it is very different here than florida so wherever you are is going to be different. The only time I ever talked to a cop on school property was because he thought my plane was cool. As for noise, it depends on the laws. Here you will really only get in trouble if nice is to early or late in the day but it is dark at those times and you will only get reported by residents. But thats here. I have read many post where people have complained but I have never had a complaint here so you will probably just have to give it a try and see how people react. Go on google earth or give us an address and we will check out the area because you definately don't want to be flying over houses or putting people in danger, otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it.
