Goddang, That was just like he meant to do it. That moves Billy way up the tree on best all time pilot in my humble opinion. Worrying thing is that is the fourth airplane I have seen pull the phenolic tube out of the wing on ARF foam core wings this year. There certainly did not appear to be anything untoward in the way Bill was flying it at the time. Kiwi |

I bet it has alot to do with adhesive coverage. I have been told, (and believe this myself) that with foam sheeted wings, the whole integrity of the structure comes from complete coverage of the glue, so it can penetrate the foam and the balsa and get its fingers into each. This effect with the sandwiching of the materials creates the strength... I bet a few (tiny %) don't have proper coverage... bam 50% less structural integrity. (Kiwi, I don't know why I mentioned this to you, you can probably give stress graphs and numbers)

I had heard about this vid, first time I saw it, though. Sweet save Bill!!!!! I came close to having to try something like this at the Huckfest, had a small amount of wing flap, killed the power and brought it in, no damage except for the stripped servo and wing half.
