Default Dalton 42% 260 Radio Setup

I've decided to take photos of the inside of the Extra 260. I am thinking about shooting a video describing the set-up. If you have any questions about the setup feel free to ask!

I'd like to build one of these, but do a pull-pull set up on the rudder. Do you think that would be possible?

Description:
Photo 1: This photo shows the carbon fiber spinner and prop. The prop is a 32x10. As you can also see I am using one of Tony's baffle for baffling.
Photo 2: Here you can see how the DA-150 mufflers are sticking out. (Plan to upgrade to pipes around Christmas)
Photo 3: Shows 3 Aileron servos with SWB arms. Servos used here are the Hitec 5955 servos. The matchbox is located inside the wing so only one wire is required to hook up when at the field.
Photo 4: The elevator and rudder servos are the same as the aileron servos. There are 2 on each elevator half and 2 for the rudder. Matchboxes for these are located in the middle of the airplane. We are using a Carbon Fiber tail wheel system to support the back.
Photo 5: This shows the full layout of how everything is layed out in the plane.
Photo 6: On the left side you see a Sullivon Smoke Tank and right in front of it is a Nimh battery to power it. On the right side you will see the DA-150 Ignition. You will also notice how we block the front from where heat is coming in from the cylinders. Note that there are holes cut for some air to go through the airframe to cool everything down. Reason for blocking the front is because everything was getting to hot inside.
Photo 7: On the left side you will see a Smart-Fly Power Expander with a Futaba PCM Receiver. To the right you will see 2 JR Matchboxes that are for the Rudder and Elevator. Also notice on each side where there is just one wire coming in from each wing.
Photo 8: In the middle you will see Smart-Fly's Turbo Reg. There are 2 Fromeco Batteries just above it plug in. The blue battery on the right is the ignition battery.
Photo 9: This photo shows how everything is layed out.
Photo 10: Here is another photo showing how everything is layed out. The Gas tank is a 50oz tank and just below it is a 40 oz Smoke Tank.
Photo 11: This is the canopy with a cool Pilot inside. The pilot came from Paul Svec.

It is possible. But to me you DONT need it with the servos I have. I really like the way mine is setup like this. Im trying to keep everything simple if you know what I mean lol.

My winter project is going to be adding pipes to the plane and get rid of those lound mufflers. I plan to move the smoke tank back on the plate where the reciever sits on.

This is not so much of an electrical question as hardware control linkage setup question, but if I may.

On your ailerons and elevators, you used a style of control horn that I like a lot, I usually purchase the Hangar 9 10-32 bolts for my control horns, maybe those are the ones, maybe a different brand…..

However, I have always experienced a great amount of trouble drilling holes that are perfectly perpendicular to the hinge line. It is also hard for me to get them equally spaced from the hinge line. I never fail to get one elevator half or aileron half moving more than the other, it is infuriating.

I actually only have a hand held drill to drill the holes with; I know that makes it a lot harder to line up the bolts but I try. How did you get them aligned so perfectly, did you use a drill press and is it necessary to use one or can you make perfect holes without using a drill press?

We first marked each hole and used a hand drill. My granddad actually did this for me. Which I could have done myself. But when you use the linkage that hangar-9 sells you can adjust it so everything is equal.

You can adjust the height of where the pushrod attaches and by doing that you can make each surface travel equal distances.

But if the holes are off the travel is not linear, say… at 45 degrees throw each surface travels exactly 45 degrees but when each is at a lesser throw one will be at 20 and another 25 degrees.

That’s what always ends up happening to me but I guess your grandfather is just really good at lining up a drill.

I guess I was kind of hoping for a magic answer to my problem but what I am lacking is the magic hands to do the drilling.

Do as i do get the surfaces all glued up and the positions for the control horns marked then put them in the car or truck and drive to some one who has a drill press there is no substitute go as far as need be to get to a drill press.
