Default Godfrey Pro Foam 42" Extra Build Thread

Bob Salder showed me the light on this one. I never knew this plane existed. Conradical killed my QQ Yak 54F foamie at Youths Master(I wont tell anybody Conrad!) . I built and flew one already. I am helping a friend build another... Some pictures are from my build and others are from the new. There shouldnt be any difference though in case you see the lable or something, that is why it appears "older".
First off... this is by far the most thought out foamie I have seen! Its jigsaw puzzle insprired airframe goes together like a snap-tite model car kit!
Things you will need to complete this kit can be found on www.bobflies.com . Robert has a strong deal on a "complete kit with motor and servos, esc, and a nice lipo Battery" as of now, but hurry!
Tools you will need:
1- new and fresh #11 exacto knife.
1-Large bottle of Foam safe CA
1-bottle of foam safe Kicker(optional)
1-Packing tape for hinges ( I like it over CA hinges or micro robarts)
Paint--- I think Krylon short cuts work and I know Testors spray works ok too.
1-Drill and Bit kit.
1-small phillips screw driver for servo arms.

Well... lets build it. Again, I completely followed the directions which are pretty clear with color pictures... but they are a reference more than directions. It literally IS a puzzle that he has designed to be "one way" so you can't put a right on a left, etc.

Here are the parts before assembly.

The pics kinda show the build without words. When you letter up a foamie... Hold it up to a window or the sun so you can cheat! WHat I mean, if you are not an artist(I am horrible), you can see your tape marks. I use vinyl pinstripe tape from a body shop to draw my curved lines and you can see it well through even 4mm depron.Look close, you can see the far side needs to come down on the curve...

The fuse comes together...

Next..... I took an upclose of the joints... I had to pry it apart just so you can see the actual joints! It is machine quality tight... I like it...

Next, lets stiffen this wing up.. Honestly, when I built it, I was a little nervous, I thought to myself it was flimsey.. and it was. Then I put the Aspen wood strips on and drilled and pinned per instructions... it is the strongest and lightest wing (especially of it's size) than any foamie...

When you get to the point where you put the wing "risers" on, it is hard to see in the pics. Again, very simple. But, do NOT glue anything relating to the wing spars yet. Fit them. There are 4 very fragile strips with "keys" to fit in slots on the wings. Take all 4 of these "riser strips" and find the pairs and then mix them. They overlap one another and will make a "male and female" pair. Now, you have a top and bottom spar riser setup... glue them in.

OK, now that the fuse and wing extensions are glued to the fuse... lets put it together. Very carefully pry the fuse apart from the tail forward and just slide it on from wingtip working it to the middle of the horizontal/wing fuse.
My helper sure is liking this build... but she likes the bigger Gassers, she can get in them!

One last thing... Bevel cut all of your surfaces according to the throw you want. IMAC or 3D.. cut the bevel or sand them. I cut them personally. Here's the rudder...
