I've got a screwy problem with my DA-100. I can fly for a couple minutes with no problems whatsoever. But after about 4 minutes of flying, the motor goes to nearly idle every time I roll knife edge or do any kind of roll. I first noticed it in a snap, but when I upright the plane, the throttle response comes back. I first thought maybe the tank was screwed, but it's not the tank. I also thought maybe it was the throttle servo crapping out, but it's getting nasty. I'm on the 4th gallon of break in fuel. Really odd...The concensus is that the motor is running unbelievably rich and the motor is loading up and fouling a plug when I roll it over. Anyone hear of this before? Just for ****s and grins I looked at the needles. My low-end needle was set to almost 2 turns out and the high end needle was set to 1.5 out. Sounds rich eh? I don't know what to do. Just thought maybe some of you guys had any ideas to share with me...

Yup sounds like a change in pressure on the carb forcing it to draw more fuel, richening it up. Carb plate should do the trick. Good luck buddy

Get a hold of Shawn from RC Blimp productions. He sells the carb plates for that motor. It will solve your problem. His email is shawn@rcblimpproductions.com. Good luck. Also his website is www.rcblimpproductions.com

Just ordered the Carb Plate and some extra plugs for my engine. I've also got an email in to DA since I'm at work. Thanks for the advice, guys!

That should solve your problem Mike. Your probably getting some turbulance/pressure differentiation in the cowl, causing the decrease in RPMs. My Yak would surge like crazy when I went inverted with the turbulance as the motor got more and more rich. I got a carb plate/cover, and the problem was solved. Sometimes it takes the carb plate with the line that runs inside the fuselage to get rid of that pressure change, but not always.

Here's my question, though...why would it just start giving me problems with turbulent air after 20 flights with no problems? I haven't changed anything on the cowl, so why would it start now?

Have you touched the needles at all recently, that could have started this change. I had a very similar issue with my ZDZ80 in my 2.6m. My throttle servo was mounted on the same beam as my fuel tank. I hadnt noticed that the bean had broken loose on one side, when I would roll inverted, the tank/beam would sag under its weight, drawing the throttle cable closed.... it too me over a month to chase that one down because I had no idea thats what was happening.

The problem sounds exactly like what happened to another pilot I know. It turned out that a ring was sticking so the motor was only firing on one cylinder. This was only noticeable in KE or hover. The reason was because he was running the motor rich. DA replaced everything. 50%

I know you said the tank was ok, BUT, I'm guessing that is exactly where the problem lies. Replumb it. you probably have a line with a small hole in it or the pickup line is off. Turbulence would be immediate not after 4 minutes.
