Default Smoke Pump Question

Hey Joe what kind of smoke pump do you use? I love smoke. Almost all my planes have smoke! Buuuutttt I am having a problem with skywriter pumps and my Futaba 9c. I have to reset the premix every time I shut off the rcvr! I hooked a servo to the slave channel and it works every time. The smoke pump works until you shut off the rcvr. Then when you turn the rcvr power on the premix has to be reset before the pump will run!! I have the pump slaved to the throttle and a switch. switch on, throttle passes 12% and the pump starts linier to full throttle full pump speed. Works like a charm on my 7c. Works one time on the 9c then has to be reset after every shut down.Got me stumped!!

Default Re: Smoke Pump Question

Try increasing the low/off end point, I have a 9C and the same pump, It needs to be armed each time it is powered up and if the EPA is not far enough then it wont reset like you said. I have mine on the left slider and use a switch to mix it with the throttle. That works well for me and I can adjust the amount of smoke and then vary it with the throttle.

The pain for me is I am still messing with the expo throttle curve and it screws up my smoke settings. I will wait until I get the motor dialed in better before I take the time to adjust it again. I spend lots of time running and adjusting it with an empty tank before I am happy with it
