one thing ya can do, Take a servo doubke arm like the ones that come with the hitecs that are wider than the peice you have sand down on side flat then screw it to bottom of the rudder as far forward to the hinge line as you can and attach the cables there i usually put 2 screws one on each side and they work well the thing to do is to make the spring atachments a little wider till its got the amount of thro on the tail wheel under loads that you want. you can also go to high rates to get more thro out of the wheel when the plane is taxi'ing

I didn't have any problems with the steering on the ones I had. Yes the T-bracket was thin but I never had any problems. Post a photo of your setup and maybe someone can help.

I didn't like the stock tail wheel assembly so I replaced it with a RC Blimp titanium and carbon fibre unit. I keped the standard T-bracket and springs but I flip to 3D rates during taxi and I think the rudder is doing more work then the tail wheel.

We have been getting lots of call from guys who have bought an ARF and are unhappy with the tailwheel. One thing to keep in mind is that the linkage works better the closer to horizontal you get it. On some installations I have seen the linkage exceeds 45 degrees and is vitually doing nothing. What we like to do is install a pair of ball links to the steering arm on the rudder then run the likage through the ball link and to the tailwheel. Shawn Berkheimer R/C Blimp Productions - Home |

HUNTERNFLA, One thing you might try. Bend the arms on the wheel up about 45 deg. This will make the springs more in line with the movement, and also in turn make the throw greater. Just like moving the push rod closer to the surface. Also make sure that the pivot on the tail wheel isn't binding. It might be worth a try to improve the steering, at least until you decide to change the setup.

Hunter, Not sure if you want to do this or not, it changes the geometry of your rudder a little. Try running the control horns 3 turns in on the rudder control rod, move the springs to the exposed rod and put a nut on the rod to lock the spring in place. It will give you what you want but you may have to change your tension on your rudder cables.

ok your not getting the steering you want because the arm on the rudder is much shorter than that of the wheel increas this arm to the same width of that of the tail wheel or decrease the arm on the wheel to that of the arm on the rudder. its that easy and simple
