| The 116 is a fine engine, however I believe it’s too heavy IMO for the 2.6 extra, and may not even fit in the cowling. The 2.6 has awesome performance on a 3w 106 or DA 100, and I would go with one of those motors for that plane |

Just a shot in the dark.....but check this out. Why not save yourself a little weight.....put in a ZDZ 80 RV-J "Super". It's cheaper, lighter, and makes a TON of power. I've got one in my 33% AM Yak and verticle is unreal. Rocketship comes to mind, and it's only got about a gallon of gas through it and running very very rich. It's turning a 3W 26x10 6400 on the ground and unloading in the air to over 7000 flat and level. All on the standard pitts muffler. I couldn't imagine it on a can. First start of the day is a little cranky....but every restart after that 1 flip and it's running. I couldn't have asked for a better engine. Neo |

It is a great engine, I flew mine on a Wildhare 41% Extra at 37lbs and it flew it great it spins a mej 30x10 6100 . But I would say it is a little heavy for a 2.6 mine is now on a 38% Columbo Anderson that is just about finished.

That would be a killer combo. I forgot to mention how smooth the Super 80 is over previous singles I've run. ZDZ truely has a great engine here. Neo | |||||||||||||||

I sure hope the super 160 runs like the super 80, I just got one and hoping to run it before too long. PS, if you go to www.drhobbies.com you can see how a 2.6 performs with just a 3w 75, to give you an idea of how much more an 80 will perform. The super 80 on an AMT pipe will outperfrom a DA 100.

I have just mounted my MVVS 116 onto my 33% CAmodel extra. The motor is almost a pound heavier than a DA100 so wing loading will be up a bit. I will probably transfer the motor to the 38% sometime in the future. The ZDZ super sounds like a good replacement but for now I will use what I've got. The motor does fit in my cowl although I will have to cut holes for the spark plugs but would have to do that with the DA anyway. The biggest problem is getting an exhaust system that fits in the smaller airframe.
