Hi everyone i hope you can help me? I have an old quadra 35, when it runs it runs smooth with hardly any vibration but it will not idle. As soon as the butterfly gets to 1/4 open it quits and then I have to wait about 30 to 40 minutes before it will fire again. Does anyone here have an idea I can try? Thanks in advance for your help! Yes, I pulled the plug and you can see the spark as you flip the prop, I've even replaced the plug twice but same thing happens. Right now I am thinking about changing out the magneto to see if the problem lies there.

| I spoke with a club member today that is a diehard Quadra man. Does this motor have the points inbehind the flywheel? If so that might be one problem. If there is a small wire running from behind the flywheel up to magneto you might have to pull it and check points for wear, and settings. |

If you have spark, it's probably not an ignition problem. Timing is not off since it runs smooth at higher throttle settings. I'd say your low speed mixture control is clogged or way out of adjustment.

To set the low speed needle correctly, keep turning it in a small amount at a time until the engine hesitates when "bumping" the throttle. Then back it out a tad and verify transition with a few more "bumps" of the throttle. Once this is done, use a tach to set the high speed mixture about 200 rpms (down) on the rich side. You might need to do the low speed adjustment again after changing the high-speed needle.

Will try that this evening. Thanks for all your help! This is the first site that actually tried to troubleshoot my problem. The other sites, all they said is by a better engine or just no responses at all. Cheers to Flyinggiants and all the members!!!
