Hello All, I try to keep all of these threads on these engines straight, but the internet has a funny way of creating information that just isn't true. First, SRM is correct about the Thor45 being created for europe by Ripmax, but then Ripmax decided to sell to Hobby People in cooperation with another vendor- not the factory. We have been selling this engine in all of its forms (except the first version) as a North American distributor for over 1-1/2 years. We know these engines inside and out and had a major part in developing the 3rd version because we have simply been making suggestions for improvement over this same amount of time. When we could not get the factory to provide the necessary parts, we developed or sourced them ourselves from other manufacturers such as the muffler, auto-advance ignition, and CNC velocity stack on our SuperSport version. We are not about throwing a bunch of money at something and not being able to support it. We ARE about the service and performance of these engines in every way. If you have a question on your Thor45 or your GF45i you can call us or email us. There are lots of satisfied pilots using OUR engines to date - the ones that have the trouble are the bargain shoppers that purchased from Ebay and other avenues thinking they were getting a bargain. Also, the AUS pilots that did not have a good service center were a major source of the complaints on these forums - I wish the logistics of that would have helped us support them. While this is unfortunate we have tried to support these the best that we could without it taking a huge margin out of our warranty budget. These other avenues of distribution will be dwindling with the onset of the Thor45 in the US market which will hopefully leave only qualified resellers and service centers for these engines. We all know what the value of a properly performing aircraft engine is when we are talking about putting it into a $2-3k investment. So from here I will let all of you decide where to buy these engines from and if you have any question on the history of them please feel free to call or email. so is anyone have some reports on this engine? I just picked one up in a rx ready plane I bought. It has only had a couple if tanks run though it. Seems ok so far. I got to work on getting it tuned in right though.
