Here I am, just a musician tryin' to fly! Hope to get some great info and laughs from all of you guys! Lookin forward to chattin. First question about giant r/c.....any tips for a rookie on a budget as far as a good starter giant ARF? I've built about ten .40 - .60's and am ready to jump to the big boys, but I'm getting married, so some of you may know what that does to the old change jar. Any help would be fantastic! Thanks.

30% - 33% planes are probably your best bang for the buck. New $2000 - $3000, USED in good shape $1600 - $2000 RTF. Don't get suckered into "HEAVY" planes.. they may be a bit cheaper but they are NO fun to fly. HAVE FUN, ask any questions you may have... there are hundreds of very experienced guys here , we all will answer to the best of our knowledge. Welcome to the Giants!!! ![]() PS: I am a musician and recording engeneer for 20 years.... flying is a GREAT way to get some creative spirit back into the bones!

Thanks. I might have to sell one of my mandolins, I guess. I'm a recording engineer myself, about 8 years. Currently working on my 5th album. Check us out at www.blueplantation.com. I used to be a rocker, but the money is in the grass down here in the south!

Hey Dave, Great to have you here!! Like Sleepy said, the members here will be ready to help any way they can. Look around for the closest forum for your question and jump right in. It won't take long and the answers will start flowing in!! One thing for sure, you don't have to fly giant scale to be a Flying Giant!! You just take what you have, fly it hard, have some fun and try new things, that's it!! Another thing I noticed, you have a love of music, play a stringed instrument and have the last name of Vaughan ![]() Gotta' love them Blues!!!

Welcome Tunedup, Glad to have you here. You will find a great diversity of people but all have the same agenda........FUN. I think if I were starting out giant scale today I think the best bang for the buck in Giant scale are the 33% planes, minimal servos, cheaper engines, comparatively speaking and wing area. Most love the Yaks, me included, but there are others, wing area is your Friend, remember that. Liking music as you do check out the video gallery and look at some of the members freestyle flying to their own interpretation to music,............very entertaining and fun to do. Anyway, Welcome, and feel free to ask any questions you may have, a lot of opinions here, some different than others, but all with the right attitude, and here to help. Chuck |

Thanks for all the replies, guys. I already feel welcome! I can't get enough of the videos on this site! I love to edit video, and I have a few on-board vids of my own I will post soon. Yes, I am a Vaughan, but no direct relation to Stevie.......I wish. I do admire his work. I wonder if he was a pilot? Hmmmmm. Anyway, thanks again guys, and I look forward to being a part of this site.
