Well guys, I am new to the forums and have been flying my nexstar trainer but I am picking up a W/H 35% giles 202 this weekend. I feel confident enough that I think I can do It. Not going to waste any more time or money on the little guys. Dont be afraid to tell me I am nuts but there's no changing my mind.Cant wait!!!

I dont think so. Landings are easy on that WH Giles so no worries there. I think the size factor might spook you a bit at first but thats it. Stuffin your trainer gear into a beater plane aint a bad idea.

I think it will be perfectly fine! Have someone experienced with giant scales and their setups go over the plane with you and be there with you for your first few flights, he can guide you through setup and flying. Bigger airplanes are more complax to setup and cost more, but are much easier to fly. I do not think you are nuts as long as you are confident with your skills. ![]() Brandon PS-Welcome to Flying Giants! |

Have someone really check out your wiring and electronic set up. I flew small glow for 15+ years and was baffled with what to do with all the freaking wires and regs, and matching dual aileron servos's and what not. A good experianced helper is a must at this stage. You just have to be ready to bury 4000 versus 400 in a heartbeat.

Good luck with that. It's not a radio hit, that's called a stall. You'll find out.

Definitely get someone to go over the wiring with you, and before you fly it. It is going to fly faster and be a lot more responsive than your Nexstar, and it's stall will be more pronounced. With some smaller planes, a nasty snap can sometimes come with a stall, but with bigger airplanes, the stall is more of a mush forward than a snap over. Be careful with landing speeds, it will be a lot faster coming in than the Nextar, but it will still likely be nice and predictable. IMO, like I stated before, as long as you are confident in your abilites and have someone to guide you through it, the bigger airplane will really have a lot less bad habits than the same plane in smaller sizes. (although there are some very good smaller airplanes out there in the 1.20, 1.60-2.10 size range) Keep the low rates low and with a good amount of expo, keep landing speeds up a little bit until you get used to it, and I think you will be fine.
