Default 35% dalton w/zdz super 80?

Hey guys,
What would you think about a 35% dalton 260 with a zdz80 super for power? Tony says that his prototype came in at 27 lbs. with a DA100, so if you do the math on the weight savings of the zdz you could end up with a 25-26 lb. 35% which the zdz super should be able to pull around without grunting too much. I want to use it for IMAC next year, I will be flying sportsman. What do you think??? good idea or will it be a pig with the zdz?

The Yo

What kind of muffler system do you want? Because I've heard people say that a the super 80 with a tuned pipe can out-pull a DA 100 plus the saved weight. Anyways I would think if you built it light, it would be enough engine.

I agree, I think a pipe with canister would definately be the way to go with this set up. This will be my first build on a plane this size so maybe I can get some good tips on how to keep it light. I wonder if anyone has ever tried this combo??

it should be fine with the zdz, ive got a 33% sukhoi with a normal zdz 80 and it has crazy vertical, plenty of power.

I have a 33% h9 extra 330s with the same set up, also great vertical. Thats what made me start thinking about this combo. With the ZDZ you will probably save 300 bucks, thats 3 servos in the bank!!!

I think it would do fine, use the AMT full length pipe, and build light!

You will save a lot more than that! You can buy the engine right now for $675, vs $1150 for the DA100. Then you only need one header, one cannister, etc, vs two of everything for the DA.

Wow!!! $675.00 for the super 80 is awesome. I may just have to purchase one now and put in on the shelf until I get the airplane built. I don't know about that 3w106, I've seen several of them backfire and shear the prop bolts right off during flight. I think I'll stick with the ZDZ. I think the ZDZ will be an awesome combo with the Dalton.

I bet it would be an awsome combo. My regular blue head 80 pulls my 2.6m comp arf extra around with no problems at all!!!

I wonder if you could do this with a 3W 80CS?
