You've got to get your timing down. Practice.. Practice.. Practice!

It's all about the timing of the rudder/elevator inputs. To do an outside harrier rolling turn - which is the most natural for most people - you 'lead' the rudd/elev input. In other words, you start inputting the rudder before you get to knife edge, and the elevator before you get to wings level. This gives you a little comfort factor, in that you can be late in an input and it doesn't cost you altitude.

To do an inside harrier rolling circle, you 'lag' the input, which is a little trickier and requires more practice. To do it straight you split the difference between those two techniques, which just means you need perfect timing

All you have to do is practice and get the timing down. Also, you need to learn to correct if the model strays off from practice. So just practice and practice until you get good at it.

yeah dude, its difinately all about the timing. its almost more of a point roll kinda thing....try to make the rudder and elevator inputs a little more seperated rather than blended together. if you time it just right, you can keep it going in a straight line. When i first learned how to harrier roll, thats all i could do was rolling in a straight line. Then i was asking everyone how to keep it going in a CIRCLE!!

I find it more of a lead input more than a lag input for turn (think its just a individual mind set). They really are a rhythm thing. When i go left I remember to throw sticks together first then continue to run left stick in circular motion around pot going to inverted first, and calibrating speed in two spots upright and inverted on 20-30 degree angle if wanting to turn (the more the angle the steeper the turn). To go strait I time elevator for level upright and inverted.

See this pic, a marker point for me for turn. Down elevator in angled spot, I also look for upright marker in same way. Again to go strait I time elevator for level upright and inverted.

Thanks guys..So it sounds like you need to be right on with the rudder and elevator..a tiny bit off will start the circle..

Applying input just a bit ahead of the roll is whats gonna start the circle. Practice and have a lotttttttt of pacience. Took me about 2 years to get them down good. Onve you learn it to one side, try it to the other side for a humbling experience

I just ease up on the rudder inputs and add my throttle in either inverted or upright pulses in the roller. Its also a timing when I am giving inputs also which can only come through practice and repitition. After a while you learn to guide the plane where you want it regardless of which way you are rolling.
