| Hey all you Carden Guys, Have a small problem...I'm running only one servo per elevator on my new Carden 40% Extra 330..Put in new JR 8611a's, but had flutter within the first flight, and lots of gear slpo..Switched to Hitec 5955's..ALOT better, but still get flutter coming out of a long downline or high speed pass..I'm almost sure that the problem is the fact that I'm running 1.5"SWB arms...Geometry is right...1.5" arms to 1.5"height on the control horn...How are you guys setting up with only one servo???? Thanks Jim |

Need two servos. Is the hinge line sealed. Where is the rod connected at? Top of the screw, middle or bottom. Should be just almost be at middle if not a hair lower on the screw.

I run 2 servos per stab across all my 40% wooden planes, too risky one horn mount. One servo per stab maybe for composite to solve tail heavy composite plane thing, but not wood..

Thanks for the quick responces!! The rod is connected a little more than half wayup, on the high side..Since at this point, two servos is going to take alot of work, I'll have to redo both elevators since they were built for only one per side...I was going to move the connect point on the servo into about an inch, and come down on the control horn..Any other suggestion...There has to be someone out there running only one servoper half....Thanks again....Jim The gap is sealed, and the elevator does have counterbalance.... |

Its the leverage thing...run the connecting rod IN on the servo arm (closer to the gears)....If anything, close in on the servo arm, far out on the elevator horn. I fyou go to the JR web site, there is some articles about the mechanical set up thing, hope this helps. |

Make sure you go max or as close as possible on ATV and work your way back to get the most from your servo, if setup correctly, it should be fine, I had 2 8411 per half on mine but I have seen at least two 40% Carden Extras with one 8411 or 8611 on each half. Good luck.

My last two carden's and one dalton 42% only ran one elev servo per surface. It can be done with proper mechanical set up. I am with Thunder, Post a pic of the set up. My guess is its an easy fix without having to cut into the stabs for another servo. |

falcon, Ill tell you what will solve it right now if you still want to use one servo. Get some lead and diconnect the linkages. Drill a hole on the inside of your counter ballance and put the stick "you can get round worm type lead" into the hole. Do not give it to much lead that you actually ballance the elevator 100%. It should fall to the down position if you were to let go. It will take about 1.5 ounces "previous models". This will stop your flutter problem. Garrett Morrison |
