Weight sounds fine for the DA 50, at 15.5 lbs a plane will have unbelieveable power, so thats a non-issue. I think the real question is whats the wing area? IF its 12 lbs but the wing loading is high, its going to fly fast and not float, if you have at least 1400 sq inchs of wing you should be fine. Who's model is it? Whats the wing area? I think Aerotech has a 50cc pitts comming out soon, and Quique has a whole line of pitts pythons (75cc,100cc,150cc).

Agreed, with only a 64" span I think you may be low on the wing area and HIGH on the wing loading with DA, however, if you can stay with a light exhaust and dont go crazy everywhere else (servos, batts, smoke tank) you will probably be ok. All depends on the wing area. Let us know, and good luck.

| Hello, We had a prototype at 68" and one at 71" and with a DA50 in it is perfect. I think you will not have enough wing area and loading to slow down. If its the goldberg Pitts I would suggest a much small gas motor or a large 4Cycle. Later John www.aerotech-rcmodels.com |

What model? I think the plane would be too small. it would have killer power, but would be a brick!

Whats the weight on the 3W 28? I think its almost near 3lbs which is right around the weight of the DA. I would say slap a big glow engine in that plane and let it fly nice! I would either go with glow or wait for some of the bigger Pitts to come out. I tried slapping gas motors into planes that were a bit small, and i can tell you... they are not much fun... planes that fly like bricks are good for going fast.. and landing fast, and unfortunatly snapping really easily.. (usually into the ground! )good luck!

Sleepy: I have the GP Pitts with a G38. The G38 is getting ready to go into a Morris Giant Su-Do-Khoi. What should I put into the GP Pitts now? Or should I dump the GP Pitts for another brand? Thanks. Patrick |

GP pitts seems to fly well with the DA 50, or I think the new BME 55 when it comes out will be awesome. (1 lb lighter than the DA) I have seen a few of the GP pitts fly and they seem to fly really nice. (From the pilots I have seen fly it, its seems to be a good aerobatic plane, but I'm not sure about its 3D capabilities) So its up to you, if you love it, with a more powerful motor that plane will be FUN, but if your sick of it... dump and get something else! I learned a valueable lesson this year... 1lb MAKES a difference! Lighter is better... so what ever you can do to your bird to get it skinny do it.... and if you can add power while putting a plane on its diet DO IT as well!
