Help! Plane Trailer Project

Evening all,

1.
I have just started to order all the essentials for my first plane trailer (Axle, springs etc etc) and as i havent built one before (have built box trailers) i was wondering what other members do to cart their big toys around.

I was thinking 3 - 3.5 mtr length internally with 1 access door on each side at the front & barn style doors on the rear. Tapered nose at the front for fuel economy. Perhaps a false floor 500mm up from the trailer floor to house plane/s that is on runners to slide out the rear to avoid having to climb in to get the plane out.
Space under false floor use as storage??.

2.
I am looking to upgrade to a 30-42% IMAC legal plane and would love a Raven or Giles. I know the Giles is Imac legal & where to get one (Airwild or Comp Arf) but cannot find anything about the Raven.

Any help would be most appreciated

Cheers

Not to mention the payload.

So ahhhhh your a big fan of BALSA planes then....

Killer set up!
Nice planes!

All I can think of to make it better would be a TAP on the side, with a chilled KEG in the front, for the after flight "Bench flying" sessions!

That is a very slick setup......you put much trust in the 1" square stock when you are unloading.....Did you build that yourself? I would be interested in seeing how that was done....

The biggest thing to consider is; "Do I expect to keep it in my garage?" I'd recommend you make sure you measure everything, especially the height. Use side vents and not a roof vent to reduce the height. I had a 5 x 10 that fit in my 1 car garage nicely.

Nice setup Rod.
That's the type of thing i'm thinking of.
One of my work mates builds & sells closed in bike & kart trailers & he has given me some top ideas as well. The slide out frame is an awesome idea & the trestle table leg looks like it was made for the job.
Thanks for pics.

PS. First class fleet too!!

The outer frame is 25mm sq but there is a 50 x 25 up the guts that helps take a lot of the weight. Let you know the next time we build one if you like, drop over and have a cool one while we do it
