 |  USRA - GIANT-SCALE RACING PHOTO BARRAGE
OK fellas, just got home from a GREAT day of hanging out at the USRA Giant Scale air races. The weather was a bit ruff, GREY and FOGGY, but hey... the show must go on! For anyone that has not witnessed these races, MAN... these planes can move! The Unlimited class was hitting speeds of over 235 mph!!! (And yes.. its HARD to video this, but I did get quite a bit video, and I will be posting a full video in a few days!) Basically I'm going to upload a slew of pictures I took to give you an idea of what this racing is all about. Friday (I was stuck at work  ) I came to find out was rough on the racers as 9 planes went in, including our FG hero Robert Vess... a few mid airs and some straight crashes...so I'll start with the remainders of all the carnage I was able to shoot. The rest of the shots are just a photo diary of my day. A really great time. Also... any of you guys that are always having problems with noise at your field...HOLY COW... have your club president listen to one of these planes... ESPECIALLY the alcohol burning 240cc unlimited planes... OMG... my ears will never be the same! Once again, Team Speed Demons (Scott, Jake and his wife) were ULTRA nice, and made sure everyone was taken care of... in fact EVERYONE was extremely nice, and I did see many familiar faces, and many of the FG members who race were in attendance. (Robert Vess, Scott and Jake Hanbury, Mike McConville and a slew of others) Also Tom Easterday's team of Orange boys were also great guys, and while it rained could bench race with the best of them! So to all of you I spoke with, and filmed and chatted with.. THANKS for a great day! As always a great time... I will be back next year! Robert Vess promised he would jump on here when he gets home and will post the winners of each class and help explain any pictures he finds interesting. (PS. Robert THANKS for the 23" VESS props !! I'm flying them tomorrow!!!)

I hope at least a few min of the racing comes out... I'll tell you.. it was like trying to film a bird that is going 200+ mph... whooo buddy!
