Hey Guys, I am running a 3W106 TOC with KS flexible headers and 3W cans. The motor has a intake manifold on the carb. The engine starts and runs fantastic except for just above 1/4 throttle and right below 1/2 throttle. It sounds like the motor is four cycling or coming on and off the pipe just in that one spot. I talked to AI and they said to remove the intake manifold and route the airline back into the fuse. Any ideas? If I remove the manifold will I need to re-adjust the needles on the carb? Thanks for the input. Maddogg |

1/4 to 1/2 throttle is right at the end of the low end adjustments governing of the throttle.have you tried turning in the lowend about 1/16th of a turn and does it do tjis all the time at that throttle setting? if you mean a volocity stack on the end of the carb you might gain stability by just running the atmosferice (spelling) tube into the fuse and try that without removing the stack.removing the stack i don't think would help it abit.it really sounds like the lowend is a tade on the rich side but a little burrble is not a bad thing if you fly in the heat, just means alittle rich

Warm the engine up, normally. Then STAB the gas to it!!! What does it do?? Does it sag(goes like BLUH)?? Or does it sound like it loads up, and then clears out??? It will take a bit of tuning to get the lowspeed set on that carb. The lowspeed needle is active all the way up to about 67% throttle(butterfly opening). Take the time and set the needles correctly the first time, and you will not have any issues out of your 106. You have the 90 degree air intake horn on it, correct?? It takes a little more finesse with the 90 degree that it would without it, in my opinion, to get the transisition spot on!!!! Beging by turning the LOW needle in about 1/8th turn. You want the mixture to be right up on the verge of LEAN. Or another tip is to turn the needle in quite a bit, and see where that gets you. Probably lean. Only try a transisition once on it there, and then begin to back the needle out. Until it starts to take fuel nicely. Then you are close!!! Fine tune after that!!!! ![]() Enjoy!!! Bunk~

Thanks for the replies guys. It is a 90 degree manifold. I did remove the atmosphere line and routed it back through the fuse and it sounded great on the ground. It transitioned great. Once in the air however it ran terrible. I guess I will have to try adjusting the needles a little more. AI beleives it is an air issue. I will give another update when I get a chance. Maddogg |

hey there dude take that stupid trumpet off and throw the damn thing away its rubbish..........mine run like crap in the air until I did this..........now it runs awesome.......be carefull not to overtighten the carb block when u bolt it back up..........all those things do is collect fuel that spits out of the carb, if its a new engine you should be rich and there will be more of it........the lip inside the trumpet catches this and then when you roll or invert the motor temporarily floods
