Turning the prop wont get fuel to the carb, i can start the motor by filling the carb with fuel using my over flow, then it runs fine. Always used to prime ok with a few turns of the prop, why would it suddenly stop? And how come it runs perfectly once it is started? Any ideas?

Make sure the choke plate is seating all the way..loosen the center screw on the plate and wiggle the plate until its firmly seated..then while holding some pressure on the plate, re-tighten the screw. This happened to me before also.

yes -the air leak is tricky to find sometimes --- the entire line from fuel pickup to engine must be bubble tight - when dry - any bleed down on a suction test means a leak somewhere - this kills the ability of the carb to suck fuel -it will just suck the air instead - once running , the leak gets wet and the thing runs Be sure to check the point whre fuel line IN the tank attaches to the clunk line |

Mine gums up after sitting for a few months (10% ethenol, Lawnboy ashless). Hopefully going to Amsoil will help the issue. Even after running the carb dry, mine still does it. It's easy for me to fix though. I just pressurize the tank a little and flip the prop, it always busts the gum loose and draws fuel. Your case may be a air leak since it always does even if it hasn't sat for months. Last edited by JoeAirPort; 08-21-2006 at 07:03 PM. |
