Question Giant scale control linkage question

I’ve got a question about the control linkages on the 25% W-H Yak I'm building. I always was told to make sure the pivot point of the control horn and linkage was at the hinge line. Not so on the W-H Extra I bought second-hand and has 300+ flights. Some are behind the hinge line, some are in front. Even the WH-supplied hardware for the Yak puts the pivot point far in front of the hinge line.

What is the best practice for this?
