I've been flying 35% for a couple years now. I love IMAC and 3D both. I'm now in a dilemma... I want a winter project (unloading one of my 35%s) and can't decide if I should go 40% or stay with a 35% (most likely a QQ Yak). 40% - More vibes, bigger to move, more electrical requirements, more money, Tim Taylor feeling 35% - Smoother motor, easier to move (I move a lot), easier on servos/batts/etc, less money If I go 40% I don't want to spend a ton... probably a Radiowave Extra 300 ARF with a DA-150 or a Kroma-180. Anyone like their 35% ships as much/more than their 40% ships? Thanks, Jason |

35% is a quicker plane... will throw around a lot faster... 40% is smoother.... (And easier to see) A 4 minute freestyle sequence with a 35%'r would take 5 minutes to do with a 40%.... I understand the J-Tec's are a little heavy... Consider one of the WildHare 40% Extras... the price is really good too... like $1300.00 I think.. |

Jason; Unload your UglyStick and Extra and get a new 120" QQ Yak with a DA150 when Quique breaks em' out this winter! If it flies anything like Kevin's 102", it'll be hard to beat as a 40% ship. See ya this weekend, Chris. |

My vote goes for the Aeroworks 40% QB extra 260. I have flown the 35% and it rocks so I expect great things from the 40%. the WH 40% Extra 300 looks pretty good too. If you do more 3D than IMAC I would stick with 35%. Shawn |

You have the wrong information, Our 40%'s are 2800 sq in, and weight in between 38 and 42 pounds depending how its stuffed, Its 125" + wingspan so its one of the largest 40% and lightest per sq in on the market. Most 40% are about 117" wingspan. Ours is caculated as a true 40% to the real planes By the way you will see at least 3 in the upcoming MASTERS at Triple Tree this year. Al Young JTEC/RADIOWAVE

And let me add to Al that the 35% Panzl he offers is NOT by any means a HEAVY plane. I just flew mine with an FPE 5.8 (95cc) motor and it was insane... and it floats like a feather.. I'll have to weigh it... but it is in no way a "HEAVY" plane!!!

40% all the way. They fly sooooo much slower and will make you look like a champ. Ass for a plane get a Carden and if don't want to build and who does keep your eyes out for a used one. You have some time before the next season and you wont be disappointed. |

DA150 and Std Muffs Two 4400 Fromeco Li-Ion Packs with 2 Regs, One 2000 NiMh Ign Pack Two Rx's and a typical suite of servos My SX (I think it is about 122" and 2700'ish wing area) tips the scales at 39 pounds dry with a Seiko Rudder servo and 3 cell LiPo 1320 pack..... It flies lightly on the wing... but so did my 42% Ulty... it has 3300 sq's ... but is too heavy for a DA150..... At my altitude.... 42 pounds is just about the upper limit for a DA150..... So if you guys over there at JTEC/RADIOWAVE can refine the design and hone a few more pounds out, at the price you are selling them... this model would become a true contender for me.. (And the altitude I fly at and the temperatures I fly at) I have seen some SMOKIN Deals on used JTEC's.... but I was concerned about the AUW's.... A JTEC 40% extra to accomodate both Imac and 3D. The Panzl will do both as well in the 35% range. The Panzl is probably the most fun plane I have had. If you can do it, it can too.

Lucky me... I do have a Panzl!!! I do LOVE it!!! It's not going anywhere any time soon... will likely fly it until the wings fall off!!! As for weight, it came in at the same weight as the AW 260QB that everyone loves (when set up with a DA-100 like my Panzl). Just looking for the perfect airplane to compliment it. I really don't want a super expensive airframe (Carden, Dalton, etc)... they all burn eventually and I may be looking for a new job in the near future... there will be a couple year period with less income than I have right now. Heck... at this moment I don't even know if I'll be able to fit a 40% in my next house!!! (don't wanna leave it out in the trailer all the time in the super hot summers). Can blame a guy for doing early research! |
