Hello guys I have a quick question for those of you who has/had 2x2 extra! what did you guys do to get more throw out of the elevator? I did file some of the foam lip on the moving parts of the elevators and that gave me around 33 degrees, but that sure is not enough for waterfalls and other 3d stuff. should I shave some more, and if the gap is more than 3mm, is that a bad thing? and why? thanks for the help Ahmed Last edited by xtdsm; 09-01-2006 at 07:20 AM. |

Hey XTDSM and welcome to the Giants. The comp arf 2x2 wont be able to do 3D the way some other planes that size. Because of the top skin hinged elevators, the SIZE of the down elevator surface isn't large enough. The part that tucks into the gap when you go to full down throw, takes away from the totl exposed surface area and it isn't big enough to get past a point to where the thing just snaps over. Try it way up high some time...go into an inverted harrier, and then try and push out to a hover...oh snap! Upright isn't a problem, but the inverted 3d stuff is pretty much a waste of time. Only thing to do would be to either build bigger elevators or maybe buy the set for the 2.3 meter and see if you can fit them on...they are center hinged. Now, that being said, the little 2x2 does fly like its on rails and it would be a great straight huckin' (IMAC) plane. Mine also was great for killer knife edge passes with hardly any coupling. So, enjoy the plane, just realize that its a little limited in its 3D capabilities. Also, keep an eye on the 1/2 glued in firewall and the fuse around it. Mine got stress cracks and had to be fiberglassed inside, all the way back to the wing tube. Don't let it sneak up on you. Again, welcome to the GIANTS. Later, Bill |
