Default RC 4WD trucks?

So we were waiting out some rain at Thistledown, when Jeff "Inspector gadget" Holsinger and Sean "Roger Ramjet" Saddler wipped out a couple 4 WD trucks. Nitro rascals with suspension out the wazzoo and 58 million RPM motors. We set up a quick course with Bud Light alumi-cans and SHAZAM! We had a soggy but GIANT STYLE race! The crowd went crazy and we were laughing our butts off!

The trucks didn't tear up the grass, they were on surface channels and it simply couldn't be more fun. The trucks were reasonably priced, they ran like tops and as Jeff and Sean let folks try these out, we heard over and over "WE GOTTA GET MORE OF THESE!" As the field had night lights, we could have raced them all night long.

I'm kinda seeing a Flying Giants series at fly-ins. What the heck?! One more facet of fun to chuck into the mix! I can promise you if we had enough interest, the Joe Nall could be the season opener. Having access to all sort of earth moving equipment, we could make a stellar track! Again running on 27, no freq. problems and MORE FUN!!!

The Jackass Cup? Think about it! I'm sure there's a bunch of you boys that already have 'em. Why not get something going? When clouds/wind screw up the flying, LET'S START DRIVING!!!!

Sounds fun. A good friend of mine that goes to some of the contests with me has a T-Maxx with the .21 conversion and an aftermarket supercharger installed. Stupid power. Lot's-O-Fun. Joe Nall sounds like a good place to do it. I'll bring his truck to my first Joe Nall next year.

You know I've been thinking about stowing the T-Maxx in my trailer for a while now.....so that when the flying is interupted by the weather the trucks can rule the ground!

Actually I was just getting ready to pm you about the Cap. What the hell you asked the question here, I'll answer it here.

I was able to get 5 flights on it over the weekend. She needed three clicks of down elevator and that was it. She's a tad nose heavy, just needs a little more down pressure than I like while inverted. Obviously this is because of the cans. She is super quiet below 1/2 throttle. If a .40 size trainer was flying I wouldn't even be able to here it. Above 1/2 throttle things start to get loud. I think a three blade is in order here. I also noticed that above 1/2 throttle is not needed much. Pulls vertical very nice with the Mejzlik 30 x 12. Midrange transition with the MTW 110 K's is very very smooth, even though I cut an inch off the headers to make them fit in the plane. She pulls ever so slightly to the belly in knife edge, but Andrew gave me a cool way to program that out in the 10X using one of the mixes with a graph. It will take some time to set it up and get it right, but when done, it should do a knife edge loop without trying to peel off to the belly. The DA 150 starts and runs great of course. Plenty of power. I weighed the plane with my bathroom scale and it shows 38 lbs. Not sure if that is accurate or not. I will be putting it on Andrew's scale as soon as I get a chance. The engine is on lawnboy still, I only have a gallon through the engine so far. After 5, I will be switching to Amsoil 100:1 actually mixed to 100:1.

In a nut shell, you, Andrew, Pete, and Mike were right. I love the way she flies. What a pussy cat, and Animal all in one. Lands like a dream. The Cap snapping rumors are not true with the Carden. This thing will float in so nicely. Rolls are almost axial, it may need some aileron differential, not sure yet. More stick time will be needed to be sure. Like I told Andrew last night, if the Yak's and Extra's fly better that the Cap, then wow. I need a Extra 260. I will enjoy the Cap for awhile before I get a Extra 260. I don't think I can convince the wife that I need one just yet.

I don't know what else to say about the plane at this point, other that I just love it, and everything is so effortless. It is such an easy plane to fly. Oh yeah, it doesn't slown down during taxing on grass like a pattern plane does. Nothing happened, just something I noticed over the weekend. Stupid power. All I want to do now is fly that thing. It was weird, on Saturday we fired it up, everything was going well. I went out to the flight line to take off, and I was not in the least bit nervous. That has never happened to me with a new plane before. Let alone my first 40%. Awesome, wait until you fly it again. You'll love it too. You just won't reconize it with the new color scheme. In a couple of months it will have the same color scheme as the pattern plane in my avitar. I also have a Helmet head pilot that will be going in there also. I will be removing the pilot from the plane and shipping back to Mike, since it has his name on the helmet and all. He'll get it, and wonder, what the hell is this all about?

Later,

Mike Darr

The budlight team has ordered 4 of them. We will be out in force at the Hot Springs EAC. Watchout and I would suggest some ankle padding.

Well Biff,

It looks like I need to start carrying my Maxx around, Sport Maxx with the 2-speed conversion and a Sirio 3.0 for power, lots of fun!

One thing I learned over the last few years with this toy, get the suspension as low as possible. That Revo was sweet with the horizontal shocks, awesome squat in the corners.

I will have it with me at the next one!!!
