Okay guys, as he's here and there is nothing I can do about it, I figured I'd better get my side of the story in print. First of all he has skills. Not taking that away from him. He's a great figure to have your company logo entrusted with. He is an active RC'er and a hoyty toyty guy with air shows. He can fly formation close enough to fly both planes by himself,,granted. BUT,,,,, HE'S THE EDDIE HASKAL (Obsequious guy from Leave it to Beaver) of aviation! I've had some PM's regarding how I deal with Mr.Chapman. "Biffmeister, why don't you fight back? GIVE HIM BOTH BARRELS DUDE! You're being dissed with no snappy come backs,,,WHY BIFFY WHY???" The reason is simple. IT'S A TRAP! Let's face it, how much skill does it take to do akybatical flying? Shove the left knob to the firewall, stomp on the rudder pedals like Bruce Lee and throw the stick as far and as fast as you can. 10 minutes later you're singing hats, kissing babies, being invited to the White House (after you cash long dollar check)! Simple. The hardest part is take off and landing and if you screw that up you can always say it was part of your show. I mean REALLY!! How tough is that ?? Here's where things get tricky. So stunt boy flies in. The promoter understands how much this 10 minutes is going to cost. The entourage, rental cars, deep muscle message therapists, aroma therapy chick,Star bucks orange frapaccino guy etc.etc. Matt usually wears clean new white Reeboks, Khakis, Ralph Laurent sweater tied at the waist Izod shirt and a Big name engine company hat (Lycoming) with a 6 inch Klein tools wrench on his key chain.A special made belt with Great Planes/ Hobbico logo,,,, he looks the part. (Desert Air Craft, Futaba, the list goes on ad nausium). He then makes a point to shake hands, smile, mention the sponsors and be a genuinely nice guy. SKULL DUGERY I SAY!! It often causes me physical pain to watch him mingle with the crowd,,HE'S THE DARK ONE!! There's nothing worse than watching Matt schmooze folks and seeing him being treated like a rock star,,, KILLS ME!! Why my feelings? Here goes. To give Matt ANY guff without F.Lee Bailey representation would be suicide! Nail him with a one liner,,,, 20 seconds later the guy footing the bill will be up in your grill, "I'm paying 3 gojillion dollars for Mr.Chapman and YOU are making fun of him?? I'll sue your whole family if you don't knock it off" is probably the most benign approach a promoter has used. Oh, sure,, if Matt questions the entire DNA of my family, that's just fine. If I make an off handed comment about his yuppy uniform you'd think I was responsible for Viet Nam!! All the while Matt's grinning and giving me the finger while folks aren't looking. HE'S EVIL,,WHY CAN'T PEOPLE SEE THIS??!!! Matt has a way of letting you get yourself into a situation, encouraging you all the way,, then NAILS YOU!! Case in point. I had voiced my opinion one too many times about wanting to strap into a full-on akybatic mount and see what it's like."Bob it's a tough environment, you need to work up to it" was stunt boy's all too frequent response. Heck,Matt's Cap is a single seater,,I could talk all I wanted. Enter Mike Mancuso with his two place Extra,,,, "Okay tough guy,Mike's gonna give you a ride in front of all your buds,,right here at the Nall." I'm not sharing this story to relive war stories, simply an example. So I get strapped into Mikes plane (10 minute ordeal) then he comes over the intercom. "Bob can you hear me?" Yup "You strapped in?" Yup "You understand all we talked about regarding bailing out and safety procedures ?" Yup,,,,,,,,,"Matt told me to give you HELL!" WHA........"Oh yeah, you can't broadcast,I've shut your mic off. You can speak to me but I will be doing the narrative for you to all the people watching." Thanks. "Your safety word is Matt is my daddy, if I hear you say that,I'll take it easy." Great, set up again. It HURT! I DID NOT say those words. Matt is a great guy, I've had countless hours of fun talking aero speak with him and think of him as a bud. Naming the Youth Masters in his honor wasn't something I did just to give the event some press,,he earned it. You'll never see Matt get himself into a corner in an airshow. If he's low,he's fast. All of his airshows are exciting, precise and simply fun. Never seen him fly? You need to! The guy knows how to entertain, but is a professional pilot first and foremost. Well Stunt boy welcome! Being as you have thrown down the glove of whoopin' to me,here's one for you! Will you or will you not wear a FLYING GIANTS hat at the Nall? Not talking about for 2 seconds for a quick photo session,, I mean for like representing? The ball is in your court. Biff Wagstaff Last edited by Biff; 01-15-2006 at 02:20 AM. |

Oh Dear God...I pray to you Holy Father to make Bob (Biff) and Matt play together nice and share thier toys and not pick on each other to the point of fist-to-cuffs, snarling looks and rude hand gestures. Thank you God! Amen. P.S. Not joking...I was really praying!

Biff I agree these glorified bus drivers and airshow performers get way to much love. I got to ride in a 300L a few years ago and its like playing a video game. Just move the little stick around and push on the petals a few times. Reminded me of playing that formula 1 racing game at the arcade. Anyway glad to see you here Matt. Welcome. WoodisGood Hoover |

This is BAD ASS. If this were a basketball forum, this is like Jordan joining, or LeBron James. (ps. I don't know crap about sports, so if those names aren't really cool, sorry I was trying to get across the fact that they were big shots in their sport) And then you have the worlds biggest personality (in his own mind) Sadler talking smack (for the most part) to our new member. Mr. Chapman, I would just like to make my position clear, you sir have a friend here, as it is my personal goal in life to bring the aforementioned Biffster to his knees at every opportunity!! Anything I can do to help pop the over inflated EGO of Mr. Mouth, consider it done!!
