Well, Previously I wanted to put a DA-50 in this plane. but a local flyer said he has one of these OS BGX-1 3500's that he'll let me use for FREE!. Now what i wanna know is do you think that this thing will be able to give me good uplines and maybe hover? Its lighter than the gasser but is only about "33cc" It says. what do you guys think about it?

| Stock Number: OSMG0352 Displacement: 2.13 cu in Bore: 1.47 in Stroke: 1.26 in RPM: 1,500-10,000 Output: 4.1 hp @ 10,000 rpm Weight: 47.3 oz (w/o mount or muffler) Includes: muffler; radial mount; safety prop nut assembly Requires: glow plug; fuel; prop Props: 18x8-12, 20x8-10 it would probably fly it half way deciently... possibly hover it. But here's the thing... ITS FREE.. take it and try it... if it sucks remove it.

I bet it'd do pretty well. There's a guy in my club who uses one on a GP Patty Wagstaff, and it has unlimited vertical and hovers. I don't know how much throttle he's using to hover, as that's not really his thing, but the plane certainly doesn't seem to be underpowered. IIRC, that Yak is a bit lighter and smaller than the Wagstaff, so I bet it'll work well, although the fuel costs will kill you.

I had the bgx installed on a patty wagstaff a couple of years ago and is now on a 1/4 scale p-51 mustang, on the mustang I love it but on a yak or an extra that size is going to be underpower IMO. don't get me wrong it will move the plane around pretty decent but forget about hard and low 3D. If it is free take it for now but do your self a favor and buy that da-50 |

Hi I Am In Australia And Have seen similar models With that engine and They Lack for Nothing,Excellent power and performance. And reading the blurb from GP It should do well As Eng Req Are 25-30 2St And I Suppose if you want to do 3D It may suffer a little That Is the question Do You Want to 3D!! It is not what every one wants And it is free!! More to the Point |
