Default Bigbird in southeast Michigan

Went to the big bird fly in at flying pilgrims in canton, only showed up on sunday for about 3 hours, how'd the saturday show go?

as far as today there was only 1 impressive pilot, he flew a raptor .90, but his tail rotor blade came off when he was inverted and he put it in.

another guy was taxiing his p-38 (i think) when they were sending 6 warbirds up and taxied into a huge 130' wingspan thunderbolt, took out some of the elevator...then the guy that taxied into him still went up and got interfered and put it in full bore straight into the ground

anyone have pictures or anything? overall it was pretty fun.. just wish i could have flown

Look up my last 2 vids, the first was Saturdays heli demo the one I uploaded today was Sunday's demo. I got the crash on vid.

The plane that got run into wasn't a P-47, I have pics of it, I can't remember what it was. The pics will be up when I write the article, hopefully in the next day or so. The article will be written for the Leading Edge. As for the guy that ran into the elevator of the other plane, his plane didn't get "hit", their impound system was flawless all weekend, he looked away from his plane to find his "bomb drop switch" and when he looked back up, he followed the wrong plane and his went in.

The plane that went in was a P-47.

I'll post these 2 pics for now, the rest will follow in the article.

The first one was the one that got hit on the ground, the second one was the one that did the hitting, obviuosly after it's demise.

As for no other planes that were impressive, what about the 120" Cessna 152 that came across the field low and inverted, pushing out and doing some very unnatural tumbling maneuvers and snaps! That was impressive!!!

As for other impressive pilots, this event attracts a lot of warbird pilots, not a huge amount of 3D pilots, an entirely different situation than Thistledown or the Huckfest. All in all it was a great event, not sure of the total count of pilots, I'll try to find that out in the next day or so. I know that on Saturday there looked to be between 75 and 100 planes in the pits at one time.

i didn't see you anywhere around, i left shortly after he crashed.. i figured he thought it was interference because at first he was acting like it.

Yep I was there all day, both days, and flew both days.

I would have gotten some video of the Cessna doing those "unhealthy for a Cessna airframe" aerobatics, but I can't fly and film at the same time

You didn't see Boulders purple and pink aero star .40?
He's been known to do 3 touch and go's in 5 minutes, as well as his staple move - take off to inverted canopy landing.
But thats only with his yaks!

All I was able to bring was my 120" Cessna, my Yak has a couple of broken aileron hinges. Yeah that guy with the clipped wing Cub was flying that real good, I might even get me one of those.

I really was flying my Cessna and doing some stupid things with it. You must have missed it or you would have remembered, Cessna's aren't supposed to be flown like that. I did a double snap and decided to land afterwards. The second snap was so violent I was afraid I might have damaged a wing strut.

You are right Sleepy, my touch and goes are wicked!!! Don't go telling anyone about my inverted touch and stops, that's my patented move!!!!!

I didn't have any trouble, but my plane is a trike gear. The tail draggers were have some problems with the cross wind, it made for some interesting takeoffs and landings. You could really tell which pilots flew in the wind and which ones didn't

The asphalt runway didn't give the tail draggers any friction for their tailwheels, the wind just blew their tail sideways causing the interesting takeoffs.
