Default Score: UPS-2, Horizon-0

Okay, I'm realy PO'd at UPS . .for the second time in a week they've managed to crush a Byp Yak I ordered from Horizon Hobby. The first time the Kit was double boxed and it looked like a 2x1 foot steel plate had been dropped dead center on the box. . .SQUISH went the fuselage in the front, crushing the motor mount asembly all the way back to mid-fuselage and cracking one side of the Depron.

Horizon, much to their credit, sent me a UPS label via Priority mail, then flagged the tracking number with a promise that when I shipped it, the replacement kit would be on the say that day.

Muchos Kudos for Horizon, as I got the replacement kit today. . which, AGAIN. . had been crushed, this time doing a nice job of crushing the fuselage about 5-6" from the tail post.

Okay. . I've had it. . this is totally bogus.

Options: Repair the fuselage with Foam Safe Ca and Probond, and live with the ugly area. . .oir, Call Horizon and try one more time to get an undamaged kit. . .or. . . lay in wait for the UPS guy, then hold him hostage until UPS gets it right. . .

Any ideas?

This has gotten beyond ridiculous.

I would keep sending the plane back for another one, until UPS ran out of money and went bankrupt.

I know this sounds strange but I would like to see a picture of the damaged box. My querry is to see if it is labeled correctly. I suspect that UPS is going to claim that it was packed improperly but that should not affect you, just Horizon. Was the second one boxed up the same as the first?

Kris, the Byp Yak is far from scale and would be a disgrace to your hanger. Give it to the UPS guy next time he comes around.

As requested .. Pics.

The damage to the fuselage extends to the rear former, which is crushed and split, and up the fuselage to the next former, which is also crused and slightly split.

The packing box had some of those air-filled bags in it for padding. Seems like the outer box got crushed hard enogh to compress the bags and give the inner box a good hard squeeze.

OUCH.

KRIS.... with weight being a concern with this plane, do you think the BME 115 is going to work in this?

From what I can see, the box is not labeled correctly. If the box has no " fragile " or " do not stack on " labels then it will go on the truck and be handled like a sac of spuds. There are processes in place to get the obx handled properly but it appears Horizon is not using them.

I guess my big question is why you arent buying it from the LHS? He pays the shipping and because it is boxed with his order as a whole, damage is far less likely

Well. . the nearest LHS is about 45 minutes away and has almost no Foamy stuff.. we have an 8% sales tax here, and I needed a module for my TX anyway, so I called Horizon. I've been looking it over. . I can repair it with minimal weight increase, but the creases in the Depron will still be visible. As long as it is strong enough for flight (I'm sure I can make it that way) it will be fine. I just hate going through all this all over again. 5-6 grams of balsa and CA will make it right.

Here is a thought. Maybe Horizon shipped it to you that way. Nothing against Horizon (good customer service) UPS is known for there F UPS. I would send it back myself.

I think the BME 110 is going to be too much for that plane.
