Hi guys, after a bit of advice, i have a ZDZ 80 with tuned muffler. I was going to put it in the Comp ARF Extra 2.3m, but i have heard of people flying the 2.6m version on an 80. Does anybody know whet the performance will be like? Is it good enough for prop hanging and full 3D? Also what weight does it come out in total? Thanks guys for any help Andy |

John Banks has/had a 2.6 with a ZDZ 80...I saw a couple of vids and it appeared to do a great job pulling it around.... Let me see if I can poke him in the side with a stick and get him to comment on the combination. |

Yep, I currently have a 2.6m with a ZDZ80 in it. I was running it on a custom can and a KS 26mm flex header which would run about 7K-7100 rpms on the ground. I am currently in the process of switching it over to a customer muffler made by JTEC. It had plenty of power here at sea-level for 3D and sequences up through Intermediate. Mine came in weighing 23.5 pounds ready to fly. I have about 20 gallons through the airplane (which is alot of flying on an 80) and I still havent switched it from Pennsoil 2-stroke aircooled... since I always seem to be breaking in a motor, and dont want to carry 3 gas cans. For 3D, I am running a 26x8 Menz, and if I am practicing sequences with it, I prefer a 26x10 Mejzlik.

I have run the 2.3 with the ZDZ80 as well and it is just plain ballistic. No cans or fancy stuff, just a JTEC Pitts muffler. It is absolutley unlimited power wise and in fact is probably a tad over the top but thats controllable with the thumb. I have also seen Banks throwing his 2,6 around and it aint too shabby at all. If you had the new ZDZ80 super then its a no brainer to try the 2.6 as its just that bit bigger, it flies on the wing a lot more and is very very manouverable. Again I think it comes down to what lights your fire. If your looking for as big as you can go then the 2.6 will be great for you. If you want a pocket rocket for absolutely unlimited 3D then the 2.3 will be just fine. My choice if I had it. 2.6. Kiwi |

Thanks guys, always prefered the 2.6 but was unsure on the power issue with the ZDZ(i already had the engine) as i can't afford a DA100 at the moment. Cheers for all the advice. Will get it order ASAP!!!! Tank what servos are running in yours, fancy the Hi-Tec 5955TC. Will i still need 2 per aileron, 2 on the rudder? Last edited by andywynn; 09-27-2006 at 07:12 AM. |

I have the 2.6. Used 5945's all the way around with a 5735 on rudder and the plane never lacked for servo power.
