Hi all, I've got a bit of a problem that I need a hand with. It's 6 weeks to the start of IMAC and i don't have a plane to fly. Yes I know, I need my butt kick but I don't really have the time or the cash to spend on a new flash glass ship and I don't want to buy a second hand aircraft that needs a lot of TLC. So this is what I think i'll do, what do you all think....... I recon im gunna buy a Hanger 9 Extra 330 S brand new in the box for $650. I have a Brison 5.8 95cc sitting around looking for a new home that I think mite fit neat in the Extra. Fit it out with Hitec HS 5955 TG's, JR SPCM Rx and Smart Fly electronics. All up it should cost me alittle over 2K and beening ARF should only take a week to put together. So, Has anyone owned a H9 Extra, whats it like as an aircraft? What do you think about the Brison donk, will it have anought poke or will the big single vibrate the airframe to bits? Oh one other thing I forgot to mention, this is my first year in IMAC and i'm only gunna fly the "B" so I don't want to pay heeps for a glass ship with all the bling..... L. |

That should work just fine!!! the brison 95 will have lots of juice for that plane. 5955 are pricy, if you are budjet minded run the 5955 on the rudder amdd go 5945 on everything else It will hold together for a few seasons, by then you will wnt to upgrade anyhow.

Hey Plater, I have only seen one of these H9 extra's, it appeared a little snap happy on the elevator, weather that was set up or not I don't know, but gentleman that owns it has since picked up a WH extra, and reckons that it is somewhere between 1000 and 2000 percent better. But as I have not actually flown one, this an observation only, not an inscription from the good book. If you are interested I will PM you his e-mail so you can have a chat personally. Mick

| I also have the H9 Extra with a ZDZ80 on it, an they are a perfect match. I suspect you will have no issues at all with your plane. Never ever heard of one of these being snap happy. I have at least 45 degrees of throw on surfaces and it has never even once thought about snapping on me from even the most aggressive maneuvers. My first week with it, I let a bud fly it and he was pulling very hard turns at high speed and I was terrified it was going to snap and eat dust, but it never did. Once I cleaned out my drawers, saw a therapist, took medication and made it back to the field I did the same thing (only higher just in case) and she is solid as a rock. Should fly IMAC very well, especially in beginner. I LOVE mine, and you will love yours too. |

Oh I feel your pain brother. I am still stuck working overseas and my first IMAC comp is in 6 weeks too. I have the plane but I am installing a new engine on it, plus I haven't flown for 4 months. It's going to be tough. Anyway there is a guy a my club that has one with a 3w106. It lootks really sloid in the air and with the 106 it pulls out of sight. Like RCDART this is just an observation, but I think it would be a good plane to start with..

That Brison is a fine running motor for the money. It will vibrate a bit but if you get the needles right it's not that bad. Mine turns a Menz 26-10 in the mid-to-low 6K range. It will be a ballistic missle on that H9 Extra. Mine is on a H9 Cap and flys the same speed on the vertical as it does on a horizontal line. Get a J&A wrap around Pitts muffler for it because the straight down sidemount is VERY loud and the J&A smoothes the power up alot. By the way there is a fellow in our club with that airframe and he pulls on it pretty hard in the corners and I have never seen it drop a wing. Brian |
