Default Receiver Aerial Inside or Outside the Plane

Just looking for some real examples of any problems you may have had with the aerial inside or outside the plane.

Do you run the aerial inside with an External Aerial????

Do you run the aerial outside????

Do you run the aerial inside without and External Aerial????

I run the aerial inside a tube which is pushed down to the base of the rudder and then curved up into the turtle deck and back down again to the receiver. Never had a problem!!!!!!

I run my antenna in a tube, positioned as far as possible away from my servo leads. normally at the bottom of the fuse, but I have run it at the top of the fuse with no problems.

I run the, ummm, "aerial" through a tube down the inside of the turtledeck, above the main fuse formers, and my extensions run down the bottom of the formers. I have never had a problem.

I reckon you run the aerial outside the plane like they did back in the 70s so it can be damaged easily.

I run full length anntena wire onto full length Intairco whips, one for each RX, looks like cochroach anntenna's but works great, over 200 flights on extra and 68 on the Yak, without a failsafe hit.

Wouldnt you need to drill large holes in the plane to let the radio waves in. I also would use a cigarette lighter on the aerial wire to melt the plastic off it so the radio waves can get to the wire, worried about it just going in the .02 mm end of the plastic outter..

Towball , always outside the fuse . I have only run the aerial in side the fuse on my 2 x 2
, that was until it developed the giltch from hell . It was during a pattern comp, I was doing
a vertical "8" from centre and when I would transition from the top loop to the bottom loop
it would get a huge hit , it did it all day .

The next week I put it back on the outside and all the hits were gone .
