Default harrier questions with a 40%

I need some help with the harrier. My plane is a 40% J-tec extra 330 running a da 150. Here's what I do I fly straight and level, throttle to idle, then go full down and pop it back up. The problem is I can't keep the nose up like I want unless I use alot of power. Then it doesn't really fall good starts building up speed and then the nose really shoots up. Does this make any sense? I think I might need more throw but how do you tell? The cg seems fine it only takes just a tiny bit to fly inverted, knife edge and flat spins seem ok. It might just be me since I'm still learning to 3D. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Default Re: harrier questions with a 40%

Hey Cap,
I have the same 'plane and it does harrier very well. First off you don't need to push down and then up. Just let it settle and hold full up elevator to get the nose up. From that point on it is throttle and elevator management to keep it moving forward and keep the nose high attitude. If you have a lot of elevator and too much throttle you’ll climb etc… A harrier is not full 3D elevator all of the time. You’re really going to have to use all four sticks to control the harrier: wing rock (ailerons) high alpha attitude (Elevator and throttle) and direction (rudder). Just keep at it and you’ll see that it is a balance of all of the sticks.
Hope this helps.
Jim
