You know I was just thinking.... I know, I know, Stand back. But with all the new intreast. and established intreast in flying rc planes in the 3-D manner, Why isn't there a school that would offer a day or two day or week course on how to "get started" flying 3-D? I mean you could get a couple big names flyers to be there from time to time. Like Jesky,Hempel,Shulman,Leseberg,Quique...You know some of the big guns to make guest apperances. And the rest of the time to have VERY QUALIFIED instructures that could teach? Just an idea? Shaun |

I doubt seriously if any of the above would have the time to do such a thing as classes. just in the ones mentioned, they are scattered all over the place. So you would have to go to them, not them to you, then, just what is their time worth? It could get very expensive, very quickly, besides I'm sure that there are pretty darn good fliers that we all personally know, and then there's the Practice, Practice, Practice, thing. It's mostly in stick time and confidence in your abilities that will get you better quicker than any thing else...................JMO Chuck |

| All you need to do is go to a 3D event. Both the Pro Bros and Extreme Club have events. Go out, bring your bird, ask for help. You wanna pay? Pay for gas, drive the truck to Houston, I'll teach ya. I drink Crown.

Guy's, This is why we go to IMAA sanctioned fly In's and compete in sanctioned IMAC competitions. There's plenty of instruction out there. We just need to know how to find it. I have participated in both IMAC an IMAA. There are good 3D pilots at both. I don't know of any 3D pilot that won't share his knowledge. IMAC competitions always have Hucker's Hour after a day of sequence flying. IMAA 3D'ers just keep growing. Support you local IMAC Region: http://www.mini-iac.com IMAA Chapter: http://www.fly-imaa.org

If you wanna pay for lessons, play golf. The cool thing about 3D is you don't have to pay for help. Videos, sims, foamys, fly-ins, practice, practice, practice. So much help available already.

IMHO I don't think you can replace PRACTICE with anything, sure you need to know the basics but it's like anything in life, an example: I raced motocross when I was younger and I still ride regularly, I have been on motorcycles my whole life since I was 8, I was never that good or anything but, PRACTICE PRACTICE PRATICE was all that mattered the harder you worked at it the better you become. I even spent money and went to a motocross school, sure they showed me some things but everytime they showed me something the statement right after that was "now go out and do that jump or turn 500 times". PRACTICE was the message ALWAYS. I think it is the same with flying, pattern, 3D IMAC whatever it is, and like everyone else said you can see it and be shown it at any event. Then go burn fuel. I think it is a FEEL for what you are doing, if you have to think about the stick movements it's too late. I think over time you develop a feel for it and that builds confidence. Feeling good and having confidence = BAD ASS FLYING. There's my 2 cents. Conrad |
