In another thread http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/s...079#post114079 the talk of the next evolution of airplanes has is beeing talked about. I am all for this. The question is if we do the planes, we gotta have a way to show them off. Unlimited 3D Contest Aircraft used: Almost anything that resembles an aircraft. Classes broken up into wing size. Under 30, 31-70, 71-96 and 96+. Do a few different sizes allowing to fly in several classes. Kinda like R/C cars. Round 1: 2-4 minute free to your music of choice. Go out and do your thing. Round 2: 2-4 minute free to music of DJ's choice. Make you improv. Top ___ 5 to 10 pilots depending on time constraints go to final round. Round 3: Several airplanes in the air at one time flying to DJ choice music. Pilots try to impress judges and crowd. Like a pose off in body building. Maybe a final round of your own free, however shorter program. Use the same type of judging in indoor free and have the crowd have a vote. Take all the class winners and put them in the King of 3D round, 100% crowd judge. Would you attend? Would you partisipate? Am I the only one thinking like this? Can you tell, I did not think of this 5 minutes ago? Thoughts? I gotta place to hold the event in the Houston area.

I'd be game, dont know if I could make Houston though. Maybe hold it at another venue... say, a timeslot at the beginning of the Joe Nall... or even perhaps... a design, build, and fly video contest? With build threads along the way?

The week of Joe Nall is good with me. To add danger level, do the whole thing over the lake. Not video, live contest. Lets not worry about location at this moment in time. Lets work out format and such, first. I think there should be at least 2 classes if not 3 to allow the little electric stuff, the standard size planes most people can afford and then the big size stuff.

The nice thing about a contest like this is that a lot of us practice freestyle all the time anyway. IMAC is fun for many but I think there are many of us who just don't have an interest in only precision flying. In my opinion, the simpler the better. A few classes so everyone who has a plane can join the fun but not be left out of the winner's circle because a 40%er looks more impressive. Also, have several contests in various parts of the country so guys who don't wanna drive so far can compete.

3 simple classes. Electric Glow GAS DONE. Everyone has one of those.... I love this idea....this form of contest is needed... the underground "street racing - Bad ASS - Bust stuff up" contest... I would love to see it... then you would see some INTERESTING stuff... And MAX would finally have a place to show case the double flusher!!
