| I know this is not strictly RC related, but until I get this thing fixed I can't do any RC videos. So help!! I was at the flying field Saturday, trying to get some video of a buddy's new H9 Extra 260. About 30 seconds into the flight, suddenly everything on the viewfinder screen turned bright green. I played back some older footage on that tape, and it played fine, so it's not a problem in playback. But when I set it to record, I get the same green color. My camcorder is a Panasonic mini DV, only a little over a year old. Only been used for about 30 minutes, tops. It is one of the newer 3 CCD camcorders - one for each of the primary colors - red, green, and blue. I'm wondering if one of the CCDs gave up the ghost, and that's why the green coloring. Is there anybody out there that has ever heard of this happening? I'm at a total loss. It's not a cheapy, a little under a thousand dollars, so I'm pretty perturbed about this happening. Unfortunately, it's no longer under warranty (I'm too cheap to buy extended warranties).

Nick, that sucks ass dude. I've seen something similar happen before - the deck needed a head cleaning. Tony, restrain yourself please. Have you tried that yet??

Man sorry to hear about that. I wonder what it would cost to send it for service, maybe they won't rake you over the coals to bad.

Check the lense cover! JK!No other help from me other than I had a video camera that was acting up, a Sony. $35.00 for a good thorough cleaning and it lasted another 4 years. Dan |

Yeah, Joe knows I "fool around" on other sites sometimes, but he still hasn't cut my huge salary. Maybe the heads do need cleaning, but I have used it so little, on record or playback, that it seems unlikely. I was looking at a camcorder forum earlier today where one of the members gave a link to a Panasonic announcement that said that a few of the runs of this particular camcorder (PV DV953) had some issues that caused color problems, but the serial number on my unit didn't match any of the ones they had listed. So much for getting it fixed for free. Guess I need to get in contact with Panasonic support and see what they have to say. I live so far out in the boondocks that it is at least an hour's drive to a city that is big enough to have a local camera/camcorder repair place. I hate to have to ship it somewhere across the country. Of course, there's no way that I can use it like it is now. This realy sucks.By the way, Max, when you asked me at the Nall if I was a moderator on DOD and I said no, I wasn't lying. I didn't start until a month or so later. Just thought I'd clear that up. I'd hate for you to think I was blowing smoke up your wazoo.

Wish I could help with the camera Nick. I would try the head cleaning too, it could solve the problem. Oh, and don't worry, I won't tell Joe that you have been sneaking around! |

Smoke up my wazoo? You guys always gotta be talkin' about wazoos. No big Nick, actually it makes absolutely no diff to me brother. Beers on me in 06. Back to the issue... Were you talking about the panasonic issue that came out of the glue seperating the CCD's?? If you can get a recording of it, post a video of the artifacts, that would help alot. BTW, check out my new toy ![]() late- MD
